09.01.2022 Group 2 of the 3 stage wage increase will come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 November. This group includes Clerks, Building and Construction, Gardening and Landscaping, Meat Industry, Mining Industry and Road Transport. A full list of affected awards can be found on the FWO website. 09.01.2022 People have been asking if they can be directed to take and use leave over the Festive Period the simple answer is yes but there are requirements that should be met. Your employer can direct you to take leave during a shut down period, e.g Christmas break, only if your award allows for it. Most awards will have a ruling for this so it's best to check your award, or registered agreement. If your award doesn't have a ruling on this you can agree with your employer to take annua...l leave or unpaid leave, you can't however be forced to take unpaid leave. If an agreement can't be reached between both parties you should be paid your normal wage during this shut down period.
