24.01.2022 Beautiful art work. We are very excited one more step towards a new hospital with site being announced this week. What would you have on your dream checklist for Bundaberg Maternity wards?

22.01.2022 We have been inboxed, local lady looking for registered midwife to be her second midwife for a homebirth. First Midwife is private practice midwife with all required insurances ect. Please message or tag any of our awesome local midwives that might be able to help.

21.01.2022 Make some noise... The exclusion of support people is not evidence based

21.01.2022 Who would love a refit for our maternity rooms here, including such things as Birth Pools, Hanging grips, and other support for women, room to move around and all medical equipment in cabinetry out of sight! Oh and the double showers! Well done Wollongong!

18.01.2022 Now this baby looks weeks old not newborn!!! How big was your biggest baby?

18.01.2022 We all know someone that has lived this pain. To all those mentioned below... We see you, we cry with you.

18.01.2022 The kneeling squat is a position that creates significantly more space in the pelvic opening, compared to being on your back. This makes the pushing stage easier for many women. Furthermore, woman can do this in all birth settings, even hospital beds.

17.01.2022 So many of us have experienced all these at various times. Be kind... you dont know some elses journey.

17.01.2022 As someone that 'failed' at breastfeeding and bemoaned my broken body that couldnt do what it was made to do... this really helped me reframe my 'failure' as a 'journey' and one I am so very proud of. My journey didnt look like I planned... but it was OUR journey and I am ok with that finally!

15.01.2022 What was a good position for you?

15.01.2022 For those that were asking about Homebirth midwives. Introducing the lovely Leanne, willing to travel when it works out to the area and such a beautiful person. We have had our inbox full of concerned mums wanting to homebirth with todays virus issues and those that just want that homebirth or water birth experience.

15.01.2022 Is a new Feminist Movement needed for Mothers? Girls and women carry more than babies. ..They carry families. They carry businesses. They carry potential. And... when we invest in their health, rights and well-being, it creates a positive ripple effect that lifts up entire countries. (Iversen, Women Deliver Conference, 2016). The events surrounding pregnancy, birth and mothering will influence a woman’s birthing career, her mothering career, her future health and her child’s future health. As motherhood is specific to women; issues of gender equity are at the core of maternity care and mothering. One of the smartest investments a society can make is to foster the health of its mothers. Healthy mothers raise healthier children, which boosts the productivity and stability of communities and economies. We need to embrace the continuum of mother and child health to provide more effective use of resources so as to achieve full health benefits for mothers, children and their families across their lifetimes. Maternity, childbearing and mothering are women’s issues and the unfinished business of feminism. #SafeMotherhood4All #RespectfulMaternityCare #MaternalHealthMatters #pregnancy #MaternalHMatters #mother #baby #newborn #maternity #pregnancy #pregnant #expecting #birth #normalbirth #motherhood #parent #grandmother #expectant #childbirth #WOCaffirm

13.01.2022 For those lucky enough to have access to Water Birth, here is some up to date information for you to advocate for your rights. Thanks ACM for promoting evidence based care.

12.01.2022 Every day counts!

12.01.2022 Asking for help. Did you know Qld is the only state not to have a publicly funded homebirth program? ... It’s 2 weeks til the Qld election so this is our last shot for a long time. Please add a sentence, confirm email and share with your friends. Regardless of where you want to birth, having in home support should be an affordable choice. I would have loved to have a known midwife at home in early labour and hold my hand as hubby drove us to hospital with our first baby. Being alone was super scary. We need 2000 signatures to get traction - link in comments.

10.01.2022 Can anyone help with this? Please Share, lets get more choices for rural women!

09.01.2022 I am a 40 year old that struggles to regulate my emotions sometimes!

05.01.2022 I think all have applied at dome point here!!!

05.01.2022 The clearest, most rigorous and valid research we have in Australia at the moment comparing place of birth for low risk women are: 1. Reitsma et al (2020) 500,0...00 births - https://www.sciencedirect.com//artic/pii/S2589537020300638 2. Homer et al (2019) 1.25M births - https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/9/10/e029192 3. Scarf et al (2018) meta analysis comprising of 28 studies - https://www.sciencedirect.com//artic/pii/S0266613818300974 When comparing women considered low risk and high risk: 1. Davies-Tuck et al (2018) - https://bmcpregnancychildbirth.biomedcentral.com//s12884-0 These studies all conclude that planned Homebirths reduce the likelihood of interventions and corresponding morbidities for mums and babies. For women considered low risk, there is no difference in perinatal mortality between planned home and planned hospital births. But only 0.3% of Australian women can access this choice, 25% through publicly funded homebirth and 75% with women paying privately. If you think Queenslanders (the only state without a publicly funded homebirth program) should have access, please sign here https://qldelection2020.good.do/birth/homebirth/ Emma Jean Photography It Takes a Village Midwifery
