22.01.2022 Can you help us to provide direction to the WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) and ConnectGroups? Your feedback will assist them in determining what services could best help us at this time while COVID-19 restrictions are still in place. WAPHA are concerned that people with chronic conditions are not presenting to their GP due to COVID 19 and this will have a long term impact. ... To help us understand your needs would you take a few minutes to complete a brief survey? Your responses will help us in delivering services to meet your needs. You can participate in the survey by clicking on this link (or simply cut and paste it into your browser): https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx If you can also help us by distributing this information to your relevant contacts it would be very much appreciated.

13.01.2022 Although survival rates for prostate cancer are high, the diagnosis of prostate cancer is a major life stress that is often followed by challenging treatment-related symptoms and heightened distress. Before and after prostate cancer treatment up to one in four men experience anxiety and up to one in five report depression, with an increased risk of suicide. To address these challenges, PCFA has released Australias first Position Statement on Screening for Distress and Psych...osocial Care for Men with Prostate Cancer. This initiative is promised to be 'a game-changer for every Australian man impacted by the disease.' See more

12.01.2022 Tour de Gracetown is the premier South West ride that is not just about cycling over 60 km or 120 km. It is about the behind the scenes activity in the past 15 years that has allowed to raise much needed funds that actually stay here in Western Australia for those in need. Find out more about the event and how you can support it here: https://mailchi.mp/pihc/one-ride-two-charities-tdg-2019

08.01.2022 Some #coronavirus myth busters from the World Health Organisation that might be worth checking out and/or shared.

06.01.2022 The PCaHELP Prostate Cancer Conference held at the Telethon Speech and Hearing Centre on Saturday 12th October 2019 was a huge success. In the morning regional support group leaders, partners and co-leaders joined their Perth peers to discuss just how far PCaHELP has come in such a short period of time and how this new association can best help all prostate cancer support groups in WA. Morning tea, a barbeque lunch and afternoon tea kept people well fuelled and ready to parti...cipate in the next session while also providing an excellent networking opportunity. The afternoon guest speakers were all incredible and very well received by all. A special thanks also to all the groups who provided information tables, including Mens Shed, Bladder and Bowel Health Australia Inc., Cancer Council WA, PCFA, PCaHELP and the ECU Vario Clinic. The feedback received proved events like this were very useful to our community and we hope to be able to continue delivering at least two similar events each year. Thanks to ConnectGroups for funding the venue hire and accommodation costs for our country members. We look forward to seeing you all again in March 2020. If you missed out on this amazing event please make a note of this in your diary now.

05.01.2022 On Friday 25th October 2019 we hosted a stall at the ConnectGroups Self Help and Support Groups Awareness Day in the Perth Cultural Centre. Thanks to Allan, Danny and Roger for helping out on the day and talking to men and women about prostate cancer. Raising awareness is what we are all about. The walnuts proved to be a hit and made people realise how such a little organ can have such a big impact on our health. Thanks to ConnectGroups for another great event.
