20.01.2022 During Term Three, Year 8 Business students undertook a challenge posed by the Office of Fair Trading called the Buy Smart competition. Students developed a creative project as assessment, to teach others about marketplace issues and their rights to help them become more informed consumers. We are pleased to announce Parklands won the overall Queensland School Champion prize and Amy (Year 8C) also took out 3rd prize in her Year 7 -9 category. Congratulations to all students involved, we are extremely proud of your efforts.

18.01.2022 As part of the Year 9 Pastoral Care range of mini courses, Community plays a huge role in developing a teenagers sense of community spirit. Traditionally, we would normally hold a morning tea for the elderly residents from Regis Aged Care, however COVID 19 struck us and this was not viable. We looked at alternatives and thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to foster the community spirit with our younger students in Prep. The Year 9 students played Duck Duck Goose and created arty paper cup telephones. The Preps were amazed that you could use these to talk through and their faces lit up when they could hear their friends. I am fairly sure that the Year 9 students enjoyed themselves just as much as the Preps. - Michael Braun

15.01.2022 Our Year 10 Active Volunteering Students recently spent a full day sorting and packing 150 Care Boxes for our local community. Our College and Parklands Church have now packed 350 boxes full of non-perishable food and hygiene groceries for families who are struggling and in need of a little extra love and care. If you need a little help over the holidays or know of someone who has lost their job or could just use a little extra love and care, please contact our Missions Coodinator Mrs Amanda Young [email protected]. We are here to help anyone who is in need.

15.01.2022 The $5 Food Challenge Did you know there are over 17,000 children without a safe place to sleep across Australia on any given night? The Year 10 Certificate I in Active Volunteering students have recently participated in a Homelessness Awareness Week. Part of the focus was to get the students thinking about the issue, the causes and what they could do to help. Yes, one person can make a huge change!... The students were given a challenge to plan and research food for 1 person for 1 day with a budget of only $5. This food was then purchased by the students and collected by the class as a whole. The donated food items are ready to be distributed to a homeless community in Brisbane City. We are super proud of the students willingness to participate and their compassion. Mrs Muller and Mrs Parker
