25.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and grandfathers! Hoping you have a wonderful day and enjoy the beautiful weather.

24.01.2022 Please ensure you and your family are following all SA Health COVID-19 requirements.

24.01.2022 This week the last part of the groundwork is occurring in Whinham. This will complete the yard, with shade sails to go in during the coming months.

23.01.2022 #nqppycollective #sortday #nappies #community #supportingoneanother Thank you to the people who were able to come today and help sort nappies to pass on to SA charities helping families.

22.01.2022 Our annual visitors are back. Please ensure your children respect their space and do not chase them. They come each year in preparation to nest and we want the ducks to feel safe.

22.01.2022 If you are unwell and youve been tested for COVID-19, its important that you stay at home while waiting for your test results. Do not go to public places ... this includes work, school, childcare, university, shopping centres, public parks, social or religious gatherings. Do not go shopping or to restaurants shop online or have family or friends deliver what you need to your door. Do not have visitors at your home. Only people who usually live with you should be in the home. You must avoid all contact with them and they must not sleep or be in the same room as you. People who live with you are not required to self-isolate unless they develop symptoms and need to get a COVID-19 test. If you must leave home to seek urgent medical care, wear a surgical mask. For more information about self-isolation, including how to safely do it while living with others, visit: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidisoadvice

16.01.2022 Please ensure you follow all guidelines of SA Health and do not bring your child into care if they are unwell.

16.01.2022 I have heard parents and medical providers share the advice, "...only give kids fruits and veggies at snacks." I think there are a variety of reasons for thi...s thought... theyll eat better at meals traditional "snack" foods are unhealthy it will help them lose weight it will make them eat more produce snacks arent really necessary And while there might be good intention behind this advice, its not appropriate and potentially harmful. Children generally need snacks. This is not just a "want". Now, if you offer a snack and your child doesnt want it, I dont advise forcing them to eat it. But in general, kids tend to eat little amounts at a time and they need to eat consistently. This is also the case for many adults as well. When children are restricted at snacks, they might end up eating more than they need at meals in fear of not being able to eat again for a while. They may become resentful of fruits and veggies if its the only thing theyre allowed to eat at times. And children are growing, they need substantial food consistently throughout the day! Try to think of eating snacks as other mini meals. You still want them to contain the basic nutrients so theyre satisfying and provide nutrition. Snacks are also a great opportunity to get in different foods. I often find my kids will eat different foods at snacks than meals, especially veggies. There are many times they skip them at meals but will eat all of them at snacks. In order to not interfere with dinner, have a snack time and then put food away so your kiddos are ready for the next meal. Children will likely need to eat every 2 to 3 hours. Treat snacks as part of their intake, not an extra, or something youre trying to limit. Look at them as opportunities for more nutrition for their growing bodies! What are your go-to or favorite snacks to serve? 16.01.2022 Today we are making the most of an unexpected closure, due to power interruption, and sorting and cleaning across the centre. We are also replacing the loop fence between Redmond and Vaughn and installing something special where the double gates once were.

15.01.2022 There has been an increase in viral gastroenteritis (gastro) in childcare centres recently. Gastro is a common illness which can be more serious for young child...ren, older people and people with pre-existing conditions. Gastro is highly infectious, but you can help stop the spread by following these tips: Keep children at home while unwell. Children should not return to childcare until no diarrhoea or vomiting for 48 hours. Avoid preparing food for others for at least 24 hours if you have been sick. Wash hands with soap and running water. Wipe down surfaces. Seek medical advice if you are concerned or there are signs of dehydration, fever, severe abdominal pain or bloody diarrhoea. 13.01.2022 Our centre is the collection and sorting point for the Nappy Collective in South Australia. We accept nappies year round with 2 major collections and sorting days in May and September. Please share the dates for the next Nappy Collective, as COVID-19 but a hold on the May collective and a lot of pressure on families, with an urgency for a large collection needed in September.

10.01.2022 From 7 Aug 2020, it will be mandatory for children attending an early childhood service to be up-to-date with vaccinations. Parents are required to provide appr...oved immunisation records upon enrolment, and at other specific ages throughout the childs attendance at: childcare centres family day care pre-schools kindergartens early learning centres Early childhood services are also required to keep a copy of all approved immunisation records for the duration a child is enrolled in their service. Retaining immunisation records onsite will enable a faster response time during a vaccine preventable disease outbreak, and help protect vulnerable children. An approved immunisation record is a childs immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR): https://bit.ly/31tPvw9 Check the AIR to see your childs records, and talk to your immunisation provider to ensure your child is fully immunised. Read through our parent and carer FAQs here: https://bit.ly/2ZjseKV

09.01.2022 I know it's quicker if we put on our children's shoes and socks, carry their backpack, or do up their jackets. But it's important that children take their time ...learning these skills independently. In those busy mornings where we're all rushing and feeling flustered, of course help your children out. However, add shoes and socks into your dress up box on quiet days, or practice these skills on a Sunday morning when there is no rush. Yes it's slower for children while they're practicing these skills but the pride on their face when they achieve a new skill is worth the wait.

04.01.2022 EARLY LEARNING STRATEGY For parents , grandparents and educators to answer https://yoursay.sa.gov.au/de/early-learning-strategy/about ... What’s being decided? The first 5 years of life influence a child’s future educational achievement, wellbeing and success. Around a quarter of South Australian children start school with one or more developmental vulnerabilities that can impact their ability to learn. Children's health, development and learning are crucial factors during these early stages of life. To support every child's development, we’re creating an Early Learning Strategy to: develop partnerships across government and non-government sectors to increase the proportion of children developmentally on track, regardless of background or location with additional specific support for Aboriginal and disadvantaged children create high-quality educational preschool programs underpinned by excellence in teaching and learning support parents who are highly engaged and enable their children to learn and reach their potential. To help us shape the strategy, we want to know your thoughts around the key issues and opportunities in the following areas: Preschool programs to support children’s learning and development before school. Monitoring developmental milestones to ensure children are ‘on track’ as they start school. Support for parents to help their child’s learning and development. You can find out more on the Department for Education website. Get involved To have your say: join the online discussion complete the online survey email your submission to [email protected] post your feedback to: Department for Education Early Learning Strategy GPO BOX 1152 Adelaide, SA 5000 How can your input influence the decision? An update on the development of the strategy will be provided early in 2021 on this website.
