17.01.2022 At the PC Forge, we don't just throw away the old PCs or parts that we 'inherit' - often, they are stored until it's possible to revive them for people less fortunate. The pictured PC, a unique rebuild, was given to a youth at a recent LAN-slide event; his prior laptop had a habit of turning itself off mid-game due to overheating, and when the PC Forge heard about it, we decided to do something about it. The PC consisted of: An Intel Xeon X3430 in an Intel S3420GPC motherboar...d, 4GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD, a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti, an ASUS Xonar DG sound card, a TP-Link Wi-Fi card and more fans than you can poke a stick at. Good luck overheating this one! Special thanks to Intuitive Strategy, Lee & Zach of LAN-Slide, & Evan & William for the donations of parts, software and encouragement in getting this PC out for someone less fortunate!

The PC Forge has been donated a set of six retired PCs of varying condition (from cosmetic damage to full-blown emphysema in their cooling systems); if they can be repaired and still have enough power to satisfy, the successfully revived PCs will be donated to less fortunate youths who attend the quarterly LAN-slide events at the Aspendale Gardens Community Centre. And if the PC is faulty, or too old to save, it sure as he...ck isnt going in landfill - remember that theres often mercury and other nasties in PC components, so check with your local council for a Recycling location when your PC is due to retire! - yoshiyoshi

09.01.2022 *PC Forge Handy Hint* Ever want to take a picture of what you see on screen? Press Alt and Prt Sc on your keyboard - that will take a screenshot that you can then paste in to a document, picture editor or e-mail.... Alternatively, if you have Windows 7 or 8, you can use the Snipping Tool to do this as well! Just type Snip after opening the Start Menu.
