25.01.2022 When Katherine’s beautiful little girl Hazel was submitted to hospital earlier this month a lot of incredible people reached out to her to see if she needed anything and with Christmas coming up, Katherine decided it would be a great idea to donate to Perth Children's Hospital Foundation to ensure those funds are going towards the hospital that looked after her little girl so incredibly well. We have never had to utilise hospital services to this extent before and have been absolutely amazed with how fantastic the services have been. So giving back is the least we can do to help support other families and the hospital after they saved our baby's life. - Katherine. Thank you Katherine for sharing your story and fundraising for the Foundation and Perth Children's Hospital.

25.01.2022 Meet Loccy, his mum Danni and dad Matt, an incredible family, and our ambassadors for this year's Christmas Appeal. When Loccy was born, he was a bundle of joy to both Danni and Matt. He was rolling at six weeks, says Danni. He was a beautiful little man. Then at about three months, he changed. All of a sudden he stopped smiling. That’s when we knew.... Since then, Loccy’s health has deteriorated significantly. He is now 15, and unable to do anything for himself. His parents have no idea how long they have left with him. We cry about it every day, says Danni. We just want to keep him comfortable. Loccy is one of 2,000 children in WA currently living with a life-limiting illness who have complex medical needs and need 24-hour-a-day care. Their journey can span weeks, months or years as it has for Loccy. This can mean prolonged stress on families like Loccy’s that affects their relationships, wellbeing and financial resources. A children’s hospice is desperately needed for out of home respite and if they choose a place that facilitates end of life services. Right now WA does not have a dedicated children’s hospice facility. Donate today to help give the ultimate Christmas gift to WA families like Loccy’s: https://bit.ly/pchf-christmas-appeal

24.01.2022 The Foundation welcomes the Premier Mark McGowan $3.2million commitment towards current palliative services provided through the Child and Adolescent Health Service so it is able to provide the clinical planning required to build the WA’s first children’s hospice. This will ensure the palliative service is geared up and ready for when the hospice is in operation. The estimated construction cost of the hospice is $25million and we are proud to have secured $5 million from other sources, with significant funding proposals currently out in the market. The Foundation’s closeness to the frontline of children’s healthcare is our greatest strength. And our proximity and the unique perspective it provides is something only we can own. We will continue to fuel the fight at the frontline of children’s healthcare. Because nothing is more urgent than helping WA sick ...kids get better. Read more on our website: https://pchf.org.au/

20.01.2022 The incredible Professor Fiona Wood featured on ABC Perth Radio this week talking about her research into how a serious burn in childhood can lead to mental illness in adulthood, if there's a connection between burns and cancer, and how burns affect the immune system. We are so proud to have supported the Stan Perron Centre for Excellence for Childhood Burns at Perth Children's Hospital to help facilitate the research into helping improve outcomes for children with burn injuries. Listen to her interview in the link below.

18.01.2022 We are constantly inspired by our amazing community fundraisers! Earlier this year, friends Mel and Yvonne decided to team up to raise vital funds for Perth Children's Hospital Foundation and WA’s sick kids by shaving their heads and raised an incredible $5,142! Being Mum’s, we both know the vital role that Perth Children's Hospital plays in our community as nothing else matters when your child is sick and is in need of treatment. Now more than ever before it is important to... remember that PCH’s work is vital to undertake its core functions and even more critical to assist in protecting our most vulnerable children who are at severe risk of developing complications as they already face underlying health issues and suppressed immune systems. To set up your very own fundraiser, check out our website to get started here: http://bit.ly/fundraise-for-pchf

15.01.2022 When Danni thinks about the difference the hospice would make to her family, she describes the simple things most of us take for granted Just going to get a haircut is a dream for Danni, or having dinner out with her husband. Simply just being able to leave the house is very difficult, given Loccy’s around-the-clock needs. Danni and Matt would love to be able to enjoy some precious quality time with Loccy, without the constant stress and pressure of their caring role absorb...ing every ounce of their attention and energy. You can help support Loccy and their family by giving the ultimate gift to help build WA’s first children’s hospice. Donate today: https://bit.ly/pchf-christmas-appeal

14.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have the team from Amazon.com.au come into Perth Children's Hospital Foundation and present our team with a cheque for a whopping $25,000 to support oncology research at Perth Children's Hospital with their staff also chipping in an extra $235 as part of a pyjama day to benefit children with cancer. Access to state-of-the-art medical research equipment is instrumental in revolutionising our research, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, saving hours of manual work that can be allocated to other valuable tasks and ultimately improving how we are able to treat and care for children. - Dr Nick Gottardo, Head of oncology at Perth Children’s Hospital. We can’t thank the team at Amazon.com.au enough for their support to help improve the healthcare of WA’s sick kids so they can live their healthiest and happiest lives.

14.01.2022 Ryan Fowler is an incredible supporter of Perth Children's Hospital Foundation! Ryan's son Rio was admitted to hospital on the 9th of November 2017, where he spent 40 nights in intensive care for what was suspected as gastro, but it was later discovered that he had a rare heart condition. Sadly, after months of surgeries and treatment, he lost his battle - which is when they started their charity Rio's Legacy with the sole purpose to assist and promote awareness and help buil...d hospices across Australia to care for children with a terminal illness. Now Ryan is getting ready for another challenge in honour of Rio's legacy to raise funds and help us build the first children's hospice in WA for our sickest kids and their families. You can follow along on his journey through his page Rio's Legacy as he makes his way to Perth early next year, and help support by making a donation here: https://rioslegacy.grassrootz.com/rio-s-challenge-for-hope

07.01.2022 Did you know, Perth Children's Hospital is the sole centre for treatment of children with cancer in Western Australia. Currently, over 100 new cases are diagnosed each year. With your support, we’ve been able to fund Dr Sandra Ruhayel as the Stan Perron Traineeship in Oncology, a 24 month training position in Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation alongside Dr Nick Gottardo, Head of Department Clinical Haematology and Oncology at Perth Children's Hos...pital. Funding Dr Ruhayle’s position means that her specialised training and research will directly translate into better care of children with cancer in WA. We can’t wait to share more about these innovative research projects we are funding at PCH as they are vital to improving the health outcomes of children with cancer in WA.

03.01.2022 There is strong evidence that the power of nature in healing is enormous; a range of therapies in natural settings are evidenced to contribute to the well-being and recovery rates of sick kids. The Perth Children's Hospital Kids’ Bridge, funded by Perth Children's Hospital Foundation donors will provide a link to opportunities for play, relaxation, reflection and respite for hospital staff, patients and visitors. Read more about the progress of the Kids’ Bridge on our website here: https://pchf.org.au/the-kids-bridge/

03.01.2022 The beautiful Mahi and Ziya. Ziya was born a healthy, happy baby to mum Preeti and dad Janesh. When she was a week old she was diagnosed as deaf. However, when she was two months old she had a serious seizure which lasted about 8-9 hours. After being diagnosed with a rare type of mitochondrial disease, Ziya’s health progressively declined. Without available hospice facilities, Ziya’s parents made the hard decision for her to come home, and Ziya passed away on 26 September 201...9. She might have lived for 20 months and six days, but to her family she lived a lifetime. The hospice would have provided a space where Ziya’s mum Preeti and dad Janesh along with Ziya’s five-year-old sister could have been together as a family. This is why we are doing what we are doing, providing a much needed care and respite facility for WA’s sick kids and their families for years to come. With your support we can help make this a reality, and we can’t thank you enough. To make a donation towards the first children’s hospice in WA click here: https://bit.ly/pchf-christmas-appeal

02.01.2022 We spoke with some of the Perth Firefighters Calendar team from this year's 2021 calendar about what it meant to them to be involved in the calendar, and the importance of why they continue to raise these much-needed funds for the Foundation every year. You can purchase a 2021 calendar on our website and help support Perth Children's Hospital Burns Unit and WA kids with burn injuries here: https://bit.ly/pchf-calendar Plus, the team from the calendar will also be down at Sorrento Quay, Hillarys Boat Harbour this Sunday at 10 am with a real fire engine for the kids to see while also selling their calendars!

01.01.2022 The incredible Carlo (8) and his best friend, Adam (9) came up with their own creative idea to raise funds for Perth Children's Hospital Foundation. With the help of their teachers at St Brigid's College Carlo and Adam spent their time making handmade comic books during lunchtime. Their fundraising efforts were supported even further when the Mayor from the city of Kalamunda approved a stall for them to sell their comic books at the Kalamunda night markets. Joined by Carlo’s sister Olivia and their friends and family, the boys raised $495 thanks to the generous support from the community - you should all be so proud of your efforts!

01.01.2022 The whole essence of it is living, it isn’t dying, that was a part of it but a very small part of it the bigger picture is living the life that we have and making the most of it. Mrs Raghwani. Thank you to the incredible Raghwani family for sharing their story. A dedicated children’s hospice facility would have enabled the Raghwani family to come together in the lead up to Ziya’s passing.... Your gift this Christmas will support families like the Raghwani's and help us build the children’s hospice, the first of its kind in Western Australia, to care for children with a life-limiting illness, who have complex medical needs and need 24-hour-a-day care.
