22.01.2022 The Commission for Children and Young People has just published a report called Keep Caring. The report made some important recommendations to the government in... Victoria about how it can do a better job supporting young people in out-of-home care to get ready for independence as well as young people who have left care. The Commission’s Youth Advisory Group wants to share these findings with other young people in our community and give you the facts you will need to be an effective ally to care leavers. In the first week of February 2021, the Commission will be running two different forums to share what we learned through these inquiries, including about what needs to change to give every young person in care the best chance of making a successful transition from care to adult life. These sessions are specifically for young people aged 1325 years. However, if you are under the age of 13 and interested in attending, please register and we will get in touch. If you are an adult and this is of interest to you, we are also holding forums for you with dates yet to be specified, but you can register your interest here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6078240/Keep-Caring-EOI If you know a bit about the out-of-home care and child protection systems, please register for this forum on Monday 1 February: https://keep-caring-forum1-foryoungpeople.eventbrite.com.au This forum will provide a deep-dive overview of our Keep Caring inquiry report and what we have recommended. If you want to learn about the basics of out-of-home care and child protection, please register here for the forum on Thursday 4 February: https://thecaresystem-and-keepcaring-for-young-people.event This forum will provide an overview of how these systems work as well as outline our keep caring inquiry report.

Tenants Victoria’s Director of Community Engagement Farah Farouque and tenancy lawyer Georga Wootton are tackling the topic in a Q&A session this week, where tenants can send us questions on #Covid19Vic issues as well as on general tenancy issues such as keeping pets. Send through your curly questions by commenting below by 3pm on Wednesday 21 October (limit to 1-4 sentences please!). We'll be posting the video answering your questions this Friday 23 October at around 1pm. Victorian Council of Social Service
