22.01.2022 Young people have suffered the most from the economic fallout of Covid-19. School leavers face a 14.5% youth unemployment rate. Entry-level jobs normally filled by young people are no longer available. PCYC NSW recognises the vulnerability of our youth, and that some need extra support. Together with NSW Police Force we are working hard to provide programs that make a real, practical difference. When Harrison took part in the PCYC NSW RISEUP Fit For Work program, school wasn’...t working for him. With the help of PCYC NSW he changed his attitude and put in the effort to get the skills he needed to start his plumbing apprenticeship. He has turned his life around. You can help more young people like Harrison succeed in the future, because your donation to PCYC’s Fit For Work program makes a real difference. Please give generously to help empower our youth. Thank you. https://bit.ly/FitForWorkHarrison #donatenow #empoweringyoungpeople #RISEUP #FitForWork

07.01.2022 Police from Lake Illawarra Police District and PCYC have been running the Commander's Active Citizens Program (CACP) for the past 7 years. The CACP involves school principals nominating young Indigenous leaders from schools within the Lake Illawarra PD to participate in this unique and powerful program. Since July police and youth case managers from Lake Illawarra Police District and PCYC have been meeting and working with these young leaders to foster and build strong relati...onships between police and Indigenous youth, gain stronger cultural awareness and enhance active citizenship within the community. Last week, all participants, police, Elders and mentors went on a three day leadership camp to Port Stephens. Check out our video from the leadership camp. A huge thank you goes to BlueScopeWIN Community Partners for their ongoing support of the program.
