This festive season we need your support to continue providing mentoring, essential programs and a safe environment to more than 50,000 young people each year. Angel was bullied all through school, and eventually, she gave up and dropped out of both mainstream and flexi-schooling. Disengaged, suffering fr...om low self-esteem and mental health issues, and struggling to interact socially even with her peers, Angel’s future was extremely uncertain. PCYC Queensland continues to support Angel and her dream, and she has recently completed work experience for her certificate in one of PCYC Queensland’s 100+ Outside School Hours Care services. 16.01.2022 Townsville had an amazing turn out for its 4th annual Wariganda Indigenous Golf Tournament at the beautiful Rowes Bay Golf Course, with 108 community members fr...om Mackay, Bowen, Burdekin, Townsville and Palm Island playing on the day. We had the pleasure of having Palm Island Mayor Mislam Sam playing in a team alongside PCYC Qld Board of Directors member Graham White, Moses Nelliman from DASTIP and Brendan Nugent from QPS. Frank Watts an Elder from Mornington Island also spent the day with us, being taken around the course by staff and meeting all the players. We had Ashley Saltner from Wulgurukaba do a Welcome to Country prior to the tournament start. Uncle Russell Butler is our Tournament Ambassador and presented all prizes to the players. The Tournament winners of the day were the team Wrapped Up Mince, with Dave Whitehead, Greg Delacour, Anthony Anderson and Shaq Congoo. Part of their prize was a $500 training voucher from Civil Safety Branch Manager Joe Bakk, which they kindly donated to the young men who played in the Yalga team on the day for their personal development. Second place went to team Hot Dog No Bun, with Mick Prien, Brad Stout, Alan Wharton and Kenny Thompson. Third place to team Got Da Power, with Benny Bon, Jumbo Miller, Timmy Miller and Akeam Power. Nearest the Pin competition was won by Christian Campbell from team Who Hit You. Putting Competition was won by Aicey Zaro from team Burdekin Bungaroo’s. A big thank you to all players and to the staff at the Rowes Bay Golf Club. Everyone was keen for next year’s tournament.this will be 30th May 2022.save the date!

I looked at how alcohol has affected my family I said I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to be like that. An alcoholic or a smoker. Sylvia desperately wanted to create a life for herself that did not involve substance abuse.... Sylvia found PCYC Queensland through a free fitness program for women, and became keen to encourage others to take part has worked to be a positive role model for young women in the community. In light of the recent weeks, we have made sure we still managed to get our exercise in whilst not compromising our social distancing restriction. 05.01.2022 To all our valued customers, PCYC Queensland is aware of the recent announcement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison in relation to the further restrictions on venues to increase the social distancing measures in order to reduce the infection rate of COVID-19. PCYC Queensland is currently awaiting further advice in the morning from the State Government and will be updating all customers as soon as it is clarified as to the full extent of closures to activities and programs that ...we offer the community. 04.01.2022 We had a massive turn out today! As part of our Indigenous Sport & Recreational programs we run boxing classes every Tuesday. It’s a great way to encourage our kids to keep fit & healthy and involved in after school activities. Thank you to all those that showed up today for our afternoon of boxing & fitness - you all did incredible! It was so much fun and great to see some new faces join us out at the Upper Ross Pcyc. ... 01.01.2022 Important notice for PCYC Queensland members To our valued PCYC Queensland Members, In line with the recent announcement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison a number of PCYC Queensland activities have temporarily been suspended except for the provision of essential services, some of which have been modified in their service delivery to ensure adherence to the increased social distancing recommendations. Essential services include:... Outside School Hours Care ReStart Program Youth Support Service Braking the Cycle External providers leasing space Safer Streets Program Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs Indigenous Sport and Recreation Program Project Booyah All other programs, fitness classes, gyms and activities including Gymnastics are suspended until further notice. Activity fee payments made for term one will be frozen and credits will be given when activities resume. Activities pre-paid for term two can be refunded or placed on hold please use this form available on our website to let us know your preferred option https://www.pcyc.org.au/sports-and-r//gymnastics-kindergym Our PCYC Queensland family is very important to us and we recognise that it is more important than ever to stay fit and connected to your community. We have also set up an Activ8@home Facebook group which we encourage you to join. We recognise that many of our members may be facing financial hardship now and we are offering this service free of charge.
