20.01.2022 Support vulnerable and at-risk young people this festive season. Vulnerable and at-risk young Queenslander’s are even more disadvantaged as a result of the global pandemic. This festive season we need your support to continue providing mentoring, essential programs and a safe environment to more than 50,000 young people each year. Angel was bullied all through school, and eventually, she gave up and dropped out of both mainstream and flexi-schooling. Disengaged, suffering fr...om low self-esteem and mental health issues, and struggling to interact socially even with her peers, Angel’s future was extremely uncertain. PCYC Queensland continues to support Angel and her dream, and she has recently completed work experience for her certificate in one of PCYC Queensland’s 100+ Outside School Hours Care services. Your donation will make the difference, donate now and change the story of a young Queenslander. https://donate.pcyc.org.au/ #PCYCQLD #Charity #Donate #OurStories

17.01.2022 After 9 years of working at PCYC Yarrabah we bid a sad farewell to Police Liaison Officer John Jia. ‘Uncle John’ as he was affectionately known by the youth of Yarrabah, worked tirelessly helping young people through his work at the PCYC Yarrabah. John ran youth programs, drove the bus and spent a lot of time mentoring the young people in Yarrabah. John is an elder from the ‘Goldsborough/Little Mulgrave’ area and was a representative Rugby League and Basketball player in his... younger days. John is a Boiler Maker by trade and his skills often came in use whilst working at PCYC Yarrabah through different branch maintenance work that he was always happy to assist with. John will be spending his final year with QPS at Gordonvale Police Station. Please say hello to ‘Uncle John’ if you see him around the traps. He will be greatly missed. PCYC Yarrabah would like to extend a warm welcome to Senior PLO Julia Smith. ‘Jua’, who is normally based at the Yarrabah Police Station and has kindly offered to fill in for John Jia for a short time.

03.01.2022 On Saturday 15th August the 2nd annual Dalari Fast 5’s Netball Tournament was held at PCYC Yarrabah. Over 170 spectators, players and support staff from Yarrabah, Mareeba, Townsville, Ngoonbi and Mossman attended. The event was an overwhelming success and the players played with great spirit and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the Townsville 2 team who took out the shield for 2020!... The tournament was held for girls aged between 11-14 years and some had never played netball but this did not stop them from displaying outstanding athletic ability and enthusiasm. This event was delivered through PCYC Queensland's Indigenous Community Sport and Recreation Program supported by Queensland Government. Thanks to all staff who helped supervised and run the day. A special thanks to local volunteers Sarah Belton from Yarrabah High School who coached and put together the Yarrabah Team, Virginia Ambrym from PCYC Yarrabah's OSHC program and Yarrabah Aboriginal Community, Queensland, Australia CEO Leon Yeatman and Avril Yeatman who helped with MC duties and photography.
