20.01.2022 CAR ON FIRE, CAPTAIN COOK HIGHWAY A car has been destroyed by fire after crashing into a tree on the Captain Cook Highway, south of Port Douglas. The male d...river managed to escape with minor injuries before the car burst into flames. Emergency services were called just after 2 o’clock this afternoon and are currently on scene. Firefighters are also fighting a small vegetation fire caused by the crash.

15.01.2022 Knowing how to call Triple Zero (000) is critical and determines how fast we can get help to you. Calls are free and can be made from mobile phones, landlines ...and pay phones. There are a few simple steps in making a call to report a fire: Stay calm and make the call from a safe location away from the fire. Operator will ask you if you need police, fire or ambulance. Say fire. If calling from a mobile phone, the operator will ask for your location information. You will be connected to a Fire Communications Officer who will take details about the situation and send help. Stay on the line, speak clearly and answer the officer’s questions. Try not to be distracted by what is happening around you. Don’t hang up until the officer has all the information they need.

11.01.2022 Thank you to the Mossman Mill employees and the Emergency Services personnel who extinguished a bagasse fire yesterday. Special mention to Will Morris who ident...ified the fire and managed to safely shut down the boilers, and Andy Orchard who was the first on the fire hose and last FNM employee on the fire hose. The quick actions of the workforce ensured the fire was put out quickly and no one was injured. There is a bit of wiring damage but we will be working around the clock to be up and running again soon. See more

08.01.2022 PUBLIC NOTICE Tomorrow morning, Thursday the 19th of November we will be hosting the yearly road safety 'crash simulation' at Mossman State High School. The pu...blic may notice a large presence of emergency service personnel. We wish to advise the public that there is NO cause for alarm. This road safety message is an important part of the outgoing year 12 students education. The presentation gives the students insight to the risks that are present when travelling on our roads and aims to reduce the overrepresentation of young drivers injured or killed in traffic crashes.

04.01.2022 We awoke early Sunday morning to a strange noise which quickly became louder and more intense. I jumped out of bed and went outside. Somethings burning and I th...ought from my CFA days I know that sound! . To the car and just down the road at The Palmer Golf course and driving range (Nautilus Drive Port Douglas and Old Port Road) an underground electrical fire. Two fire appliances from Port Douglas on scene but unable to attack the fire because the high voltage power lines were still live.
