22.01.2022 This very relatable article had us giggling and nodding along. Theres nothing like a new baby to tempt us to throw resolution to the wind and hunt down the pe...rfect toy for bringing out that first smile or laugh. Until, that is, we find ourselves crippled by yet another inconsiderately hard corner of plastic in the heel on a night time dash to the loo. On my first daughters very first Christmas I bought her a walking talking Winnie the Pooh. She couldnt care less. In fact, I think she was a little scared of it... A week later and poor old Pooh Bear was at the bottom of the toy box, forgotten. Bother. https://letslassothemoon.com///06/things-kids-really-need

18.01.2022 During these uncertain times we want to ensure families are support now and into the future. With changing employment situations and people having to and wanting to self-isolate, we want to assure families that withdrawing care is not the only option. You may be eligible and wish to apply for the Additional Childcare Subsidy (ACCS) - Temporary Financial Hardship. This will allow you to keep your children enrolled whilst claiming additional CCS. In addition it is important to note that the Government is currently passing legislation to support families including law to allow families to exceed the maximum absences allowed before subsidy ceases.

14.01.2022 During the Coronavirus pandemic the Government has put measures in place to ensure child care is available to families. The new Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package will replace the Child Care Subsidy and the Additional Child Care Subsidy, to help services stay open. Under the plan the government is going to pay the service 50% of their fee revenue and the care will be at no cost to families. In order to receive the payment the educator must: stay open... unless closed on public health advice ensure families are not charged a fee prioritise care to essential workers, vulnerable and disadvantaged children and previously enrolled children continue to record attendance of children comply with all existing laws. During these times we encourage families to continue to follow public health recommendations including staying home unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education. With the new relief package in in place having an active enrolment with an educator does not require you to send your child to care or to pay a gap fee. If you choose not to send your child, the educator can hold your place for when things start to normalise, and you are ready to take your child back to care. It is important that you stay in contact with your educator and inform them in advance of your intention to restart care.

13.01.2022 Looking for something to do tomorrow?

13.01.2022 Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the border with New South Wales will close. As of 1am, Saturday August 8, all visitors will be denied entry except for rare exemptions, and returning Queenslanders will have to pay for 14 days mandatory hotel quarantine. Queenslands Chief Health Officer has declared all of Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory as hotspots. Educators will now not be able to provide care if the family has travelled to thes...e 3 states until the 14 day quarantine has ended. Care cannot be provided for a child who has been in close contact with anyone who has been ordered to self-isolate. With numbers of COVID-19 increasing throughout Australia we are reminded to continue to be vigilant with health and hygiene. The health, safety and welfare of children, families, educators and staff of early childhood education and care services continues to be our key focus. Excursions and outings can continue at this stage with regular review of health, hygiene and safety considerations.

11.01.2022 Peace of Mind Family Day Care takes the health and well-being of children, families and our educators very seriously. We would like all families to read the attached link from the Queensland Department of Education. The COVID-19 symptoms include fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath. There is evidence that the virus spreads from person-to-person. The virus is most likely spread through: close contact with an infectious person contact with droplets from... an infected persons cough or sneeze touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face Educators always ensure good hygiene and cleaning practices. At this time everyone should be extra diligent. Practising good handwashing and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses. To ensure effective hygiene everyone should be: Washing hands with running water and soap frequently including on arrival, after toileting, before eating and when in public places. cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, use alcohol-based hand sanitiser only when soap and running water is not available if unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 metres from people). Educators will continue to clean play spaces and resources and support children to implement effective hygiene. Everyone is reminded that if they or their children are unwell, or if they have been in close contact with anyone confirmed to have COVID-19 they must be excluded from attending the service until they are assessed and cleared by their doctor. All illness and contact risks must be reported to your Educator who will inform the Peace of Mind Office. The service will inform the Department of Education and Queensland Health. If anyone develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must: Isolate themselves from others at home and use a separate bathroom if available; Put on a surgical mask and if they dont have one, practice good sneeze/cough hygiene; Practice good hand hygiene; and Call a doctor or hospital and tell them the recent travel or close contact history. If they have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing: Call 000, ask for an ambulance and notify the officers of the recent travel or close contact history. https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-informatio
