09.01.2022 This week the children were introduced to our new Clay Atelier, a space to come and explore with their hands, moulding the clay into various inspired forms. The experience this week was to ‘meet’ the clay with our senses. Once it begins to make sense to the body, I believe we can connect more in-depth with the medium and start to create with passion. I found the children enthralling themselves in the slippery touch it developed after adding (copious) amounts of water, only ...to work out that more is not always better if we want to create something. Luckily, natural clay is so forgiving. The children were engaged deeply the entire time; hearing this is incredible , I’m going to tell my mum is testimony enough. Next week we will dive a little deeper and explore the medium from the inside out. The use of a microscope and magnifying glasses will help us to continue the journey of understanding.
