Malcolm Fraser was Prime Minister, the Great Barrier Reef was declared a marine park, and Wheel of Fortune premiered on television screens across the nation. It was also a time when far less women were in the workforce and being a female CEO was almost unheard of. But Pea in a Pod CEO, Jennifer Birkill saw an opportunity in the #fashionindustry. I started Pea in a Pod after the birth of my first child. I was already in the ...fashion manufacturing business and found dressing during pregnancy a nightmare as they were either cheap and poorly made options or expensive styles that I couldn't justify buying. There was a lack of options out there for women and being in the industry already, I saw an opportunity to design and also produce locally in Australia. Pea in a Pod is now one of Australia’s leading maternity wear brands. It is #sustainable, #madelocally in Melbourne, and suitable for all women. Growing and evolving as a brand has been important for Pea in a Pod. #Motherhood looks different in 2020 and the fashion industry needs to reflect that. It's been a difficult year with restrictions limiting local production, but we’re excited to expand as a brand and connect with more people as things open up!
