25.01.2022 Working Bee tomorrow at the Leisure Centre to prepare for next week's Arts and Craft Exhibition. Many hands make light work!



24.01.2022 Now with the school holidays over and warmer days our craft group's numbers will start to pick up again. Painting on Mondays, Mosaics on Tuesday, Folk Art and Knitting on Wednesday and Patchwork on Fridays. We'll stoke up the fires if the weather is cold.

20.01.2022 A big thank you to the Parkes Shire for replacing all the light fittings in the Leisure Centre from old fluorescents to new lead lighting. Thanks also to our local electrician, Jacob for helping out with the lighting over the June long weekend Arts and Craft Exhibition.



20.01.2022 The Leisure Centre looked fabulous over the June long weekend for the Arts and Craft Exhibition. Thanks to all the members who entered their arts and craft and to all the community members and visitors who voted in People's Choice. Winners of each section were: Folk Art - Robyn with her jewellery box Patchwork - Jenny Ingram - Stained Glass quilt Painting - Rod Ward - Waterfall landscape Mosaic - Lyn McLeod - Flannel flowers table... Glass slumping - equal first - Robyn with her glass tray garden and Judi Unger with a blue cheese platter Knitting - Patricia Whalan with her creamed cable jumper Highly commended to Jodi Sant with her fabulous portrait of Vi West which Jodi entered into this year's Archibald Prize competition. 16.01.2022 Congratulations to our members who entered exhibits in our local show. Members from our painting, folk art, slumping, patchwork and mosaic groups took out first, seconds and champion exhibits in the various sections.

16.01.2022 Peak Hill's Arts and Craft exhibition continues tomorrow at both venues; the Southern Cross Hall and the Leisure Centre will be open from 9.00am to 4.00pm. A wonderful range of arts and craft is on display, so call in and visit both venues.



15.01.2022 Wonderful prizes for our Leisure Centre Raffle are on display in the Peak Hill Country Crafts window in Peak Hill. All raffles are donated by members from the Leisure Centre: Patchwork Quilt and matching cushions, Framed landscape photo by Sandra Ward, Pot Pouri folk art bird cage and slumped bottle cheese platter by Robyn and a scrap-booking kit was kindly donated by Sharon Stahlhut. Raffle tickets are available at Peak Hill Country Crafts and at the Leisure Centre over the June Long Weekend Exhibition. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday 9th June at 4.00pm.

15.01.2022 The mosaic group will meet again tomorrow around 10.00am. Please join us! We are all beginners, still learning and very supportive of each other's projects. Glass coffee table mosaic nearly ready to grout by one of our members.

15.01.2022 Still not too late to RSVP to the Official Opening for the Peak Hill Arts and Craft Exhibition tomorrow night ......Friday 7th June, or we don't mind if you just turn up. The more the merrier! Elizabeth Luke is our guest speaker and has just returned from China after a speaking engagement a few weeks ago. It will be great to hear Elizabeth speak about her journey as a painter, her tree change to Peak Hill 13 years ago and her career as an interior designer.

12.01.2022 Official Opening of the Peak Hill 46th Annual Arts and Craft Exhibition .... congratulations to Pam Bell who was awarded Life Membership. Guest speaker Elizabeth Luke spoke about her interest in art from an early age, steering her towards a career in interior design and dabbling in painting once she joined the Leisure Centre a decade ago. Jodi Sant's painting of Vi West caught everyone's attention ..... an amazing portrait.

12.01.2022 Thanks to the Parkes Shire for printing the Exhibitors' Profile booklet which will be available over the June Long Weekend to introduce and help promote this year's exhibitors at our Arts and Craft Exhibition.

12.01.2022 A great weekend of arts and crafts in Peak Hill. Come along to see our talented exhibitors and support us! The venues will be opened from 9.30am to 4.00pm each day of the exhibition.

12.01.2022 Some of our members arts and crafts will be on display this weekend 16-17 March, at the Showcasing Parkes Arts and Crafts Talent . The event will be held at the Parkes Town Bowling Club commencing at 10.00am - 4.00pm each day. Parkes Quota International are hosting this event. Looking forward to seeing you there!

11.01.2022 The Leisure Centre held a successful Mosaic workshop last week. Instructors Isabelle and Erin brought along everything we needed and offered wonderful support. It was everyone's first go at creating a mosaic stepping stone.

10.01.2022 Fabulous paintings from members of the painting group who meet each Monday at the Leisure Centre, which were entered into the 2019 Peak Hill Show, fine arts section.

06.01.2022 The Leisure Centre invites exhibitors and artists each year to demonstrate their arts or craft as part of the Arts and Craft Exhibition. This year we had familiar and new exhibitors on board to share their creativity. Thanks to Karen Ritchie (artist), Nella Vos ( aprons, crochet and jewellery) and Creative Digital Designs (digital photography) who joined Colleen and John from the Cobar Quilt Shop, Maria Harrison's card making, Jo Thomas who is a master spinning, weaver and knitter and a mosaic display from our newly formed mosaic group.

05.01.2022 Thank you to all the stall holders who supported the Peak Hill's 46th Annual Arts and Craft Exhibition on the June long weekend. The Southern Cross Hall committee were happy with the number of stalls and the high quality of hand-made items of each stall.

05.01.2022 All community members are invited to attend the Official Opening of the Arts and Craft exhibition on Friday 7th June, 2019 commencing at 6pm. CanAssist are catering for the evening and Sing Australia will be performing! Representatives from Parkes Shire will be in attendance to support our June Long Weekend Exhibition.

03.01.2022 On behalf of the Southern Cross Hall and Leisure Centre committees we would like to thank all the volunteers from our local community for helping make our exhibition a wonderful success. To Pauline Allen for taking photos, Kerry West for co-ordinating the Leisure Centre kitchen, Ann and Des McIntyre and helpers with the BBQ at the Southern Cross Hall, Betty Zdan for organising the exhibitors at the Southern Cross Hall, exhibitors' setting up their displays, Sing Australia for entertainment at the Official Opening, local and district media for advertising our event and if I have missed anyone apologies.... BUT a huge thank you to everyone involved.

03.01.2022 After the success of our Mosaic workshop last week, we decided to meet again on Tuesday this week to finish off our stepping stones or start a new project. If members of the community would like to join, please feel welcome to turn up on Tuesday at 9.30am.

01.01.2022 Our guest speaker at the Official Opening Night of the Peak Hill's 46th Annual Arts and Craft Exhibition will be Elizabeth Luke. Elizabeth is an Interior Designer and has recently completed further studies with Building Design. Elizabeth is a member of the painting group at the Leisure Centre. The Official Opening commences at 6pm on Friday 7 June, 2019.
