22.01.2022 Shortly before 12noon today 29 Jan 2020, calls were received by 000 reporting a flat on fire at Unit 12, 27 York Street, St Kilda West 3182. Based on the number of calls received the response was upgraded to a second alarm which resulted in seven fire appliances being dispatched. Upon arrival at the address, firefighters were presented with an extensive fire on level one of the three story building. An initial search of the premises failed to reveal any occupants.... A secondary search was later conducted and crews located the body of a deceased woman in the bedroom of the unit. The relevant gas company attended and isolated the gas as did the power company, to the electricity. Peak Hour Images were on scene as AV arrived to monitor firefighter welfare. Level one asbestos procedures were implemented. MFB peer support unit was requested to assess the firefighters as they exited. Two Fire Investigation Units from the MFB have been requested as the source of the fire has yet to be determined.

21.01.2022 LARGE FACTORY FIRE : MRI E-cycle Solutions 1789-1791 Sydney Road, Campbellfield Initial firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a 90m x 50m factory fully involved in a fire. Crews quickly called in for support and escalated the response.... There are more than 90 firefighters & 50 fire trucks (both FRV & CFA) on scene working to contain the blaze. This will be a protracted incident and crews are likely to remain on scene for some time. At this stage it’s not yet known what caused the fire to start. The public is advised to avoid the area where possible while emergency services respond. There is a lot of smoke in the area, and a wind blowing to the South-West has caused the smoke to be blown towards estates and businesses. Residents who are sensitive to smoke should close windows and doors, and turn off heating or cooling systems. Sydney Road and National Boulevard in Campbellfield are currently closed. There are currently 18 FRV firefighting appliances and a number of other firefighting units on scene. FRV crews are being supported by CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and the EPA.

13.01.2022 Fast-acting police have saved the lives of three male fishermen after they were swept from rocks at a Rye beach today. It is believed the men were fishing on rocks near Harold Road when they were swept into the water about 12.10pm. A nearby passer-by noticed the men struggling in the water and alerted emergency services who arrived on scene shortly after.... Police managed to winch two of the men to safety before attending to the third man struggling the surf about 500m away. 10.01.2022 It's been an extremely rough year for us. One of the first things most consumers drop when cost cutting and reducing optional "nice2have" overheads is club memberships. I made a conscious decision to continue my long-standing membership of the National Press Club of Australia (now in my 10th year) and it was a heart-warming surprise to receive the annual membership card today, presented with a $25 gift card to be used at the club for food/bev etc. #npcmembership #npcmembershipcard
