25.01.2022 An afternoon out with the Collective where I had a play with some new toys, an EOS R, as well as my usual kit. Big thanks to Greg Sullivan and the crew for organising it all! #aeroflowshow #willowbankraceway #discoveripswich #canoncollective

24.01.2022 Another day of promise, but no results... Some weak broken wave in amoungst convergence cloud, and some upside-down crepuscular rays to finish off :-)

24.01.2022 A few photos from the practice day, Saturday, at Darling Downs Soaring Club

23.01.2022 After the wild dust storm last night, we woke to cool and clear air! What a change! With smiles all round, a downwind dash to Tommingly was called so people could get back in reasonable time for the presentation. Flying photos will come later as I have a party to attend :-) Tag your mates :-)

23.01.2022 The winners! Jonny Durrand first, Steve Docherty second, Rory Duncan third!

23.01.2022 I better hurry this along a bit! A few more from the dripping wet forests around Fox Glacier area. Having everything wet all the time does wonders for the colours! The last photo is all you will see of the glacier itself as recent floods washed away all the access.

21.01.2022 And now, back to New Zealand... A few shots from Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea :-)

20.01.2022 That tree... I got up early to beat the rush and get a shot of the Wanaka tree before the rush. Soon after this was taken the place was shoulder to shoulder with photographers and tripods :-( People that know me might have heard me refer to this tree in a similar sounding, but somewhat less flattering term :-)

20.01.2022 Pre-start, day 1 at Kingaroy. Interesting looking sky :-)

20.01.2022 A bit closer to home. Dawn on Mt Mitchell, near Cunninghams Gap. A pleasant walk up the mountain except for the extreme dryness, with forest undergrowth dying off and mature trees losing their leaves, along with lots of dust and smoke haze clouding the otherwise clear skies. #scenicrim #thegreatsoutheast #visitscenicrim

17.01.2022 Finally some flying! The smoke and wind abated just enough to get a round away, so finally, the Forbes Flatlands is underway

16.01.2022 The following album is a pictorial narrative of a bit of "glory hunting" in the area near Burketown in the Gulf Savanna of QLD, Australia. The Morning Glory is an elusive, but spectacular meteorological phenomenon that is seen fairly regularly in the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria area. Sometimes the waves of cloud roll in day after day, other times they dont... When they do happen, long soaring flights are possible and it is a truly spectacular sight to see.

16.01.2022 A few scenes around the town of Fox Glacier and Lake Matheson. Cool and wet, despite the clear sunny skies, the ground and vegetation remained either frosted or just wet, all day. Lovely place to go for a walk though...

15.01.2022 A few more Kiwi pictures. These are from the west side of Haast pass, to up at the pass itself. Quite stunning part of the world!

14.01.2022 Edit... After uploading the photos in the middle of the night, I realised that the most important photo was left out!!!! Whoops... The winners have now been added :-)... The last day of the Manilla competition! It is now the middle of the night, so I will fill in captions for the presentation tomorrow :-) Meanwhile, feel free to tag your mates :-)

14.01.2022 A few shots from the first day. Apologies to anyone I have missed! Anyone with friends, feel free to tag them :-)

13.01.2022 The Maruia valley and Hot springs, dripping wet like usual for this part of the world

12.01.2022 The winners! Congratulations to Attila for winning the Forbes Flatlands 2020. Josh second and Jonny third. The full results will be on the competition website shortly. Unfortunately, I cant tag Attila :-(

11.01.2022 Final day of flying in the Forbes Flatlands 2020. Cool clear air and a short task, followed by a BBQ dinner at the Vandenburg Hotel with the presentation. Congratulations to Attila Betrok for taking out the win!

11.01.2022 A few more from Burketown

10.01.2022 And now we are off to Milford Sound. Quite the tourist hot spot, with cruise boats queuing up to get people to the "must see" spots. Glorious day for it, and awesome job by the glaciers to carve the landscape in the way they did :-)

09.01.2022 Meanwhile, over at Dalby, some hangies were hanging around...

08.01.2022 Wednesdays flying at DDSC

08.01.2022 A few photos from an awesome morning in Burketown.

07.01.2022 A glorious morning over the Gulf country, but for the wrong reasons. A promising forecast, which got worse the closer we got to the day. The endless snaking rivers however are always spectacular!

07.01.2022 At a Hang Gliding comp... Cant you tell? :-)

07.01.2022 Watching the sun go down from Reflection Island, in Lake Matheson. Its not really an island, but what the heck... It is, however, a very popular spot for photographers, so here is my take on it all. A series of the same photos, taken as the sun gradually went down.

07.01.2022 Prior to the start, on day 4 of the QLD State Competition at Darling Downs Soaring Club

06.01.2022 A few tourist photos from around Burketown

05.01.2022 Broken morning glory cloud today, Good lift and heights still!

05.01.2022 How to get taken for a ride... Tandem hang gliding being launched by an ultralight aircraft, near Canungra, in the Gold Coast Hinterland

04.01.2022 None of this could have happened without the never-ending work from Vicki, ably assisted by Lizzy :-) The weather was challenging, but the result was, again great! The rest of the photos from todays launch and the presentation will get sorted after a good sleep :-)

04.01.2022 The goal landings at the Flatlands, Plenty of happy faces about! Crosswind task with some great climbs, but also with challenging sections. Late landings for some and to finish off, a strong easterly change with increased smoke haze came in. And beers and watermelon at goal :-)

04.01.2022 A few random photos from the area around Arthurs Pass, right in the middle of the South Island

02.01.2022 Some morning scenes from near the town of Haast, on the NZ west coast. Like usual, wet! But the mist did make a nice touch :-)

01.01.2022 Cracking day with 3300m climbs. Bit of a zigzag to Bogan Gate. I have got most pilots launches, so tag your mates :-) Sorry to those I missed...

01.01.2022 A day at Lake Keepit Soaring Club, the host of the Womens Worlds. Quite a pleasant day compared to the weather over the previous week, the three classes launched into good air and then returned a few hours (and a few hundred Kms) later. I think I got everyone :-) Tag your mates:-) #wwgc2019
