24.01.2022 As Ramadaan approaches many of us will be faced with the usual questions from our non muslim friends and family. For the past couple of years I've given gifts to my colleagues to share my excitement about Ramadaan and give a short explanation about what it is. I created these labels to attach to the gifts, which are great for neighbours as well, and a simple chocolate is guaranteed to put a smile on someone's face especially in these difficult times. 23.01.2022 This canvas trio was one of my very first creations with the tasbeeh Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah and AllahuAkbar printed on them. I have this set in my own lounge because I love it so much! The colours are so vibrant, and it's completely matte with a gradient effect. 15.01.2022 Naming a business is like naming a baby In a way my business is my baby - my brain baby! I initially did a lot of research and looked for words in different languages that related to my brand, words like innovation, creativity and beauty. I decided on Zuri Calligraphy. Zuri means beautiful in Swahili, which is spoken in a number of African countries and I liked that it was a subtle nod to my beloved home country, South Africa. But even after designing my logo and brand...ing kit I just didn't love it, so back to the drawing board I went. I then looked back to my most treasured memories because I wanted my business name to be personal. My childhood home was on Pearl street , how could I not take this opportunity?! I also found a range of inks that came in a pearlescent variety and I was sold! Pearl Ink Designs was born, and I'm really proud of what I'm building If you made it through the entire tale I want to celebrate your achievements, so tell me what are you most proud of right now? 11.01.2022 Today I want to tell you guys about why I started Pearl Ink Designs. I used to be creative in many ways as a child, I had a wild imagination and I loved little crafts and activities. I remember saving up with my sister Fatima to buy a kids pottery wheel and the fun we had with it! Then studies and eventually work took over, but I've always wanted to be in the creative space. Last year I finally worked up the courage to do something about it and so Pearl Ink Designs was born. ...I decided to focus on Arabic calligraphy because it fascinates me, the flow of the script is so beautiful yet simple, it's exactly my vibe.
