25.01.2022 Robert Payne our honorary ecologist has set up nesting boxes for Sugar Glider in the Arboretum. We have recently set up cameras to monitor them.

25.01.2022 Since fire risk conditions in the region are predicted to be "Catastrophic" tomorrow we have closed the Crommelin Native Arboretum at Pearl Beach at least until 9 am on Thursday 14 November 2019. We have also closed the Arboretum carpark on Crystal Avenue. Please note that the Arboretum Risk Assessment states: If there is a Total Fire Ban then no work should be done in the Arboretum. If Alert levels are at Watch and Act as per RFS advice or above do not enter the Arboretum.

23.01.2022 NBN Central Coast News had another news item on the Arboretum last night on our Threatened Species https://www.nbnnews.com.au//pocket-of-paradise-in-pearl-b/ If you missed the news on Monday night about the koalas I’ve included the link below. https://www.nbnnews.com.au//koalas-could-call-pearl-beach/ The Arboretum has been successful in obtaining a grant for a new propagating shed and NBN Central Coast News will do a news item on this at a later stage.... This is great publicity for the Arboretum and hopefully we’ll get some new members and volunteers. Ann Parsons Vice President Crommelin Native Arboretum Inc. 15.01.2022 Today I made the decision to close the Arboretum due to Catastrophic conditions predicted. I'm worried about the koalas which we plan to translocate from Port Macquarie where many have died.

08.01.2022 Crommelin Native Arboretum Koala news on NBN Central Coast News tonight 6pm The Arboretum has been successful in getting a Communities Environment Program grant to look at relocating koalas back into Pearl Beach. The koala project will involve a detailed survey of the area undertaken by community volunteers under the guidance of the University of Sydney to determine whether any koalas are still present, and if so, what their condition is. It will also involve a trial introduc...tion and the development of a community engagement plan. Relocating koalas which are now a critically endangered species to unoccupied koala habitat is one of the aims of the NSW Koala Strategy. It is planned that this model will be used to translocate koalas into other areas in the future. Additional money will be needed to NBN Central Coast News conducted an interview at the Arboretum today to get a story on the koala project. They also looked at Threatened Species in the Arboretum. They will be airing the koala story tonight on NBN Central Coast News at 6pm. The story about the Threatened Species will appear later in the week possibly on Wednesday night. This is very exciting news for the Arboretum. See more
