11.01.2022 The weight of heavy keys can put excessive strain on the ignition barrel. It can wear out the tumblrs inside and eventually lead to ignition switch failure. Pretty much an unnecessary and preventable cost! Although there isn’t a definite weight as each car is different, we recommend having the bare minimum on your vehicle key chains. Usually 9 or less keys are fine. Although if you feel the keys are heavy while in the ignition, we suggest removing some before it causes damage.
