17.01.2022 Lets take a moment to appreciate Dietitians! (how great is it that they get their own day - so well deserved!) Although we are not dietitians we can give you these three key tips to help maintain healthy teeth - 1. Limit sugary treats to mealtimes, rather than between meals.... 2. Drink fluoridated tap water throughout the day and after meals. 3. Chew sugar-free gum after eating can help to stimulate saliva production and rinse the mouth of food particles. #dietitiansday #19thseptember

15.01.2022 COVID-19 All Dental Practices around Australia are now adhering to Level 3 restrictions. If these restrictions apply to you and your upcoming appointment you would likely have already received a phone call from one of our staff members. ... *We have locked our front door for the safety of both you and our staff. If you have an appointment we ask that you park in our rear car park and we will come and collect you from your vehicle when we are ready for your appointment. (We would encourage for you to call on 64231516 on your arrival)* *we also ask that you only bring yourself to your appointment - if this isnt possible please phone us *IMPORTANT - if you have arrived in Tasmania in the last 14 days we ask that you do not attend the surgery * If you are feeling unwell we also ask that you do not attend the surgery. We thank you all for your support in this ever changing environment and we hope that you all are keeping well and staying safe.

14.01.2022 Keep calm and floss on! Flossing keeps your mouth clean. While brushing helps with your oral health, it is not super effective on its own. Flossing removes bacteria that is responsible for teeth issues, gum issues and even halitosis.

14.01.2022 Unfortunately the phone lines are down, for any appointments feel free to contact the facebook page! Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused!

12.01.2022 Today we farewell Abbie. It has been a wonderful year and you will be sorely missed. Best of luck on your future endeavours. Love all the Pearly Whites team

11.01.2022 Fun Fact 6. In 1994, a prison inmate in West Virginia braided dental floss into a rope, scaled the wall and escaped!

11.01.2022 Fun fact 5. Another one of our weird dental facts actually made headlines back in 2011, when John Lennons molar was put up for auction. It sold for quite a hefty chunk of change too (30k+!), but why? It was a decrepit, discoloured tooth! The story goes that Lennon gave his tooth away after it was pulled to his housekeeper back in the sixties. He thought it would make a good gift for her daughter, a Beatles fan. Since then, it stayed in her family for many years until recently. In 2011, it was sold to a Canadian dentist, who had some interesting plans for the rotten tooth: using it to draw attention to mouth cancer.

10.01.2022 FUN FACT Scientists count the rings on a dolphins teeth to determine how old they are! Luckily for us, our teeth cant give our age away so easily!!

10.01.2022 From the Pearly Whites Dentistry Team we want to say a tremendous thank you to you, our amazing patients, and we would like to announce that we are now back to Level 1 restrictions for dentistry in Tasmania. Level 1 sees us on track to be being back to a state of normality within dentistry. We are able to offer a full range of services again, which is proving to be a huge sigh of relief within the community. Although we are on the right track with flattening the curve, we s...till need to remain cautious moving forward so that case numbers dont spike. As such at Pearly Whites Dentistry we will continue our high stand of care, with additional measures to help minimise the spread, we appreciate your continued assistance with these precautionary measures. We have been very busy contacting all the patients we currently had on the wait list for appointments that were restricted. For all appointments please phone 6423 1516, please note we will still be running the clinic in a reduced capacity at this time, but will endeavour to ensure a suitable booking for your schedule.

08.01.2022 *** COVID-19 UPDATE TO DENTAL SERVICES*** We would like to thank all of our amazing patients for their understanding and patience during this difficult time. Thanks to the whole community and the rest of Australias efforts in social distancing to help flatten the curve here in Australia, as of today the government has reduced dental services from Level 3 to Level 2 restrictions. Level 2 restrictions are based on procedures that do not generate aerosols or if they do, are ab...le to be isolated to minimise the presence of saliva or blood in the aerosols, thereby minimising transmission where possible. So what do Level 2 restrictions on dental services allow: - Examinations however no scale and cleans are allowed - Fillings without aerosol creation or if aerosols are generated under isolation - Non-surgical extractions - Hand scaling - Preventative Procedures ie fluoride applications - Orthodontic Treatment - however due to the border lock down Dr Kristina will be unable to travel to Tasmania, however in the event of any emergencies please let us know Although this is a step in the right direction we will still need to be vigilant, and will be undertaking further precautions in the clinic, and appreciate your assistance with this. Please note for all patients currently on the call back list we will be going through the list and calling those that are able to be seen under the new restrictions over the coming weeks. We are currently running the clinic in a reduced capacity due to lock down restrictions that are still in place along the North West Coast, and where possible encourage patients to stay at home. As such for all appointments please phone 6423 1516, you will then be triaged, if a booking is required we are currently scheduling patients Tuesdays and Thursdays, however as need arises this is likely to change. If you are unsure if your treatment is able to be completed under the current Level 2 restrictions please give us a call, and if we are unable to assist we can always place you on a call back list.

08.01.2022 Pearly Whites will be closed from Monday 6th April until the Government Restrictions are lifted. However, our highly skilled staff will be available for urgent/emergency cases. In order to make a booking please phone the clinic on (03) 6423 1516. Your call will then be triaged, and where possible you will receive advice on how to manage your condition over the phone.... In true urgent/emergency cases, a booking will be made for you to attend the clinic. However, as Level 3 restrictions are in place due to Covid-19, the treatments that can be performed are restricted to minimise aerosol transmission of the virus. We thank you for your patience during this time.
