25.01.2022 There is something special about the experience of seeing a hen sitting on their eggs, being excited for hatching day and then watching mum teach them how to be chickens. Parenting at its best

25.01.2022 Meet Rusty Most of our animals are used in our therapy programs or animal experiences but Rusty is a bit different, his job is to look after our animals and especially the baby animals. Rusty is the most placid and beautiful dog, but at night he will watch and if a fox should threaten his flock he will take action. Little John can play and grow big and strong with no risk of being hurt by a fox

24.01.2022 Meet our beautiful chickens, they have a huge aviary to sleep in at night and during the day a big paddock which we have dog proofed. I love seeing them forage and be chickens These guys will eventually be a part of our farm experience day

23.01.2022 Look at these cuties in the storm we had a couple of weeks ago, they were abandoned by their mum. They are on 4 bottles a day and love all the attention they can get

23.01.2022 Wow what a surprise, baby John arrived some time overnight or this morning. We weren’t really expecting him but look at him, how adorable and well he certainly doesn’t take after mum. The other animals were really confused, we had to move the ponies out as they were too friendly

22.01.2022 Whos the king of the castle? Mounds of dirt around here create endless play opportunities

22.01.2022 Yoshi looking her best on this beautiful day Yoshi is taking part in our animal programs over the school holidays

21.01.2022 Our Friday social group enjoyed coming up to the farm today. They met the animals, went for a walk and enjoyed some home made cake

19.01.2022 These guys, are going down the PAHS House tonight to attend the animal social group. We are going to have some very happy children

19.01.2022 Our new chickens are settling in at the Farm and we are certainly enjoying the bounty of beautiful fresh eggs. But it is also fascinating to watch chickens social structures. We have over 50 chickens now and they have defined little friendship groups. There are the brave chickens who venture far out into the paddocks, the loner chickens, the chickens who desperately want friends but no one likes them and they get bullied and the chickens who are just crazy, loving life and always into mischief As a speech pathologist I have found one of the hardest skillsets to teach kids are the social cues and boundaries. Maybe we should be utilising our chickens as role models, it is so obvious when watching them what is happening

18.01.2022 PAHS mentoring and Support Services- Why chose us? We have an amazing mentor team, providing supports for both children and adults which is fully covered under the NDIS. We have both our PAHS House, where we offer day programs, groups and short term accommodation as well as our PAHS Farm, where you can have a real farm experience and meet some of our amazing animals. We love what we do and I think it shows if you want to know more ring 83222792 and ask for Nicola or Leanne

17.01.2022 Stay safe and try to chill out, like these lovely girls

16.01.2022 Most people walk their dog but Farmer Dave likes to walk his donkey, so cute, right? But it is also good training for Blossom, who needs to be bullet proof. Tonight she has had 4 dogs around her feet, walked on gravel, concrete and grass, and met numerous different animals. It is kind of like training a big puppy, lots of socialisation now will make Blossom an amazing therapy assistant

15.01.2022 The 2021 Calendar for Animals Helping Animals has just been finished and it looks amazing. We have been lucky to have one of photos chosen to be in the calendar, it’s the one with our baby goats Thanks to Cuddly Kids Miniature Goat Stud for our 3 little girls Cuddly Kids Miniature Goat Stud

14.01.2022 Meet Morty, he is our new horse at the PAHS Farm much as we love our miniature horses, they are super tiny and adults have to bend over to pat them. Morty is regular sized and I hope one day can be a part of our equine therapy program

Ideally you will not only have amble experience of looking after, a rather large vegetable garden but also have experience working with people with disabilities. Clients will have their mentors with them at all times. This project is a dream of mine, and it is coming along nicely, but we need someone with more... skillsets in gardening than us. I also want to expand this so we can have flow hives and collect honey, milk our goats and teach how to make cheese. The duties include garden activities including but not limited to Screening fencing, and covers for garden beds Setting up a compost system installation and maintenance of manual and automatic irrigation systems identification and management of weeds, pests and diseases Understand the principals of organic farming Be able to assist and advice on setting up a citrus orchard, and stone fruit orchard. Growing and planting vegetables To be successful you will Reliable and honest Be able to network within our local community (Down South) Be a bit quirky, be passionate about what we are trying to set up and want to be a part of it. Love animals, we have multiple animals here, including dogs, horses, donkeys, Alpaca, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks. Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience, I want to say in a similar position but I don’t think there is anything like this out there. A Certificate III in Horticulture is highly desirable Have a demonstrated knowledge of plants have an awareness and understanding of WHS legislation have an eye for detail, be highly organised and have the ability to prioritise multiple tasks have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with clients and other staff members have a current driver’s licence, own transport and phone This is a part time position of 2-3 days per week and the salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 12.01.2022 Could animal-assisted social work help prevent mental illness and suicide? Social workers often see people who are resistant to trust, have been hurt by others ...and may have attachment disorders. Animals can often be a very valuable bridge back to establishing a human relationship. They help build trust and can give people the sense that they can have positive relationships again.
