23.01.2022 *Update* Jimmy’s training Apologies for the lack of training videos - I need someone to video me The lovely Jimmy has been improving in leaps and bounds, and his sweet temperament endears him to everyone, however his movement remains tight and he is lacking throughness. So today we had a visit from Narelle Sealey to perform Emmett Therapy and assist Jimmy in his journey. ... As suspected, he had significant tension in his croup and shoulders and to see him move with more relaxation after his session was a wonderful sight. I’ll post a video of him tomorrow so u can all see how well the gorgeous little man is coming along, in the meantime, here’s a pic of him enjoying his treatment today with Narelle

16.01.2022 Definitely worth watching this webinar

11.01.2022 My first ride on Jimmy after his therapy and he felt a bit tender so it was a short 10min ride to create this video. He’ll have a day off tomorrow (Wednesday), with some stretching, and I’ll ride him on Thursday

08.01.2022 Makes sense to get the best farrier you can find - no hoof, no horse. And please be careful when choosing "Barefoot Trimmers" that they have sufficient training. Farriers undertake a 4yr apprenticeship to learn their trade. Some Barefoot Trimmers have attended only weekend courses. Is a weekend course sufficient to acquire these skills?????

02.01.2022 Jimmy’s Training video Hi people. Jimmy’s training took a bit of a holiday while some things got sorted (a house move, hoof abscess, the weather, bushfires, drought, floods....) But we’re back into with enthusiasm. He has progressed, though he is still showing stiffness so the lovely Narelle Sealey came out on Sunday and performed Emmett Therapy on him ... He clearly enjoyed the process and showed signs of relaxing so the therapy will continue. Here he is getting an ear tickle

01.01.2022 Thank you Andrew Hoy for showing us a great exercise that can easily be practiced at home.

01.01.2022 Thanks to Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre. Always good to know what toxic plants are in the area.

01.01.2022 Effect of Toe length! Farriers can influence where the ground reaction force enters the hoof. Horses already do this to an extent with conformation. Very uprig...ht horses have a close ground reaction force, which creates small forces in the tendon. Horses with a long sloping pastern have a ground reaction force vector that is longer, with larger forces in the tendon. With a longer toe, the ground reaction force moment arms get bigger, and force on the tendon grows (Figure 2). Calculations show that 1 centimeter of toe length in an average Thoroughbred comes to 50 kilos of force acting on the tendons.
