25.01.2022 managed to get 3 lawns done today before the storm hit... really need to do 2 more today (well 1 desperateley, other ....), so hoping not much in it except noise

24.01.2022 The before and afters on this one will be good...the mowed bits have been done on the highest my mower can go, sometimes on back wheels to get the front higher, sometimes not a mower at all, had to wipper snip them, too high for any mower (cannot get ride-on in this yard)and without a catcher. Some not done at all, they will be able to get mowed on 4 or 5, my usual setting, in 4 or 5 days, and a catcher used...and can you spot the mower?

24.01.2022 after trimming the crappy stuff off and cutting everything into firebox size for owner, doesn't seem much on the pile..but beat the approaching storm!

24.01.2022 near the end of Bathurst Burrs spaying.....most now too ripe to have any effect, so sometimes chipping the only way...went past the stallion's paddock, saw 3 or 4 big ones, so went in to chip them...got a few more than I bargained for....Justin was quite happy to see them gone! and worth spending time in his paddock to have him follow me around, he's a bit like a dog!

23.01.2022 best part about cleanups on these neglected yards is getting to make a noise with the chainsaw......soon be too hot to be able to use them

23.01.2022 now to leave the Gouldians to raise their babies, and go to work (on a sunday....rain was great but has put me behind.....and more coming Wednesday! damn rain....)

23.01.2022 was almost finished when I remembered was gonna do a before & after....so here is a small bit of before, and then an after...great day to mow!

23.01.2022 did this garden today, dunno what the mauve thing is, has l;eaves like Buddlia, but is not one....and the Mays are about to burst forth (in Seprtember...)

22.01.2022 worked in the rain this morning, getting behind and the wet is gonna hang round, so nothing for it, had 25 roses for this garden sitting in water since last wednesday, and in potting mix since friday, so HAD to get them in. The David Austins were added to the DA bed in this garden, added 5 Bonicas at front entrance, the 2 Icebergs joined the Burgundy and the Brilliant Pink in their own section...the Jane McGraths went in a row in another section, and a new garden has recently been added, and the Hybrid Teas went into it....now to hope the rabbits are dying! (on friday put 12 white & brilliant pink icebergs and Pierres into another man's garden, now to find time to get all mine in).....gratitude to Treloars Roses SA for supplying (unfortunately not free)

22.01.2022 sometimes you just have to say "pass"....was asked to do this one yesterday, real estate agent had put the acid on them (were moving out) to mow, I thought, oh yeh, just a house block in town, about an hour. Only had an hour to spare, so went to take a look......died of fright! and passed....

22.01.2022 this mess will eventually form a nice neat brick edge to a very long , currently unseemly, driveway. bricks put into the trench to stop the kids "kicking" the dirt back into the trench before I get the sand in to level it

21.01.2022 plenty of damaged hay at horse stud where I do the gardens and lawns once a week....and after the disastrous weekend recently where they got 120 mls of rain on the hay before it could all be gotten undercover, will be no shortage...so today I spread mulch! big bare area, I pulled out masses of pink and white African Daisy to get at the onion weed that was encroaching, sprayed 3 times, now it's dead can re-establish the garden

20.01.2022 great mowing day today....haven't done this one for a month, rocked up and could not believe the height....forgot to take a before...but the after looks great!

19.01.2022 not mine.....went to this garden to do a paving job (tree root next door grown from there to going under this man's house, dig up pavers, find massive tree root, cut off 8 ft of it and re-lay pavers..).but worth the trouble to see the Bluebells/Dutchies growing together....

18.01.2022 across the road from previous post pics....before and after, like I said, just LOVE doing edges

18.01.2022 last 2 days been great to be a gardener/mower man...these were the biggest Gazanias I have seen....

18.01.2022 Don't waste your lawn clippings, if you don't have a compost heap, just chuck a pile in a bag few days to let them get hot and destroy seeds. Then chuck in a heap in the garden for a week, then just spread them out...first pic were dumped a week ago, second pic tipped out today after 2 days in the bag, already turning yellow. This large farm garden uses SO much mulch, and running out of bales of damaged lucerne. So what if we still get some weeds from it, no comparison to the benefit to the soil.....

17.01.2022 got to one of the unit blocks I maintain today, and found the largish fruit tree down back didn't take the wild weather last few weeks........feel a chainsaw job coming on, before it gets too hot to be allowed use them. brmm brmm (an addict has a fix coming.....)

17.01.2022 more pics from last friday....some are turned on by erotic music, others by "naughty" stuff, with me it's edges.....

17.01.2022 just put a video of African Daisies in a garden I look after, as I said, common old things but invaluable in a big garden....and they do self seed a lot and take over, but this means you get free plants.....but the last pic does not, you have to take cuttings or layer it to get more, got 2 different ones to this at home. look closely and the centre of the flower differs.....also the newish yellow/orange/reds/browns likewise don't seed, so they are a short term thing unless you layer them, but worth the trouble

17.01.2022 fun job...2 hrs wipper snipping capeweed cause the hobby farmers refuse to spray...but I get paid, so all good! and on the way home spotted a large dead tree right beside the road, and happened to have my chainsaws with me....so a great day all round!

15.01.2022 after the noise and rush yesterday to chainsaw a tree and beat the storm, change of pace today to fire up the ride-on, attach trailer, and chuck on 12 bales of old hay and mulch the roses in a garden I look after....then back into town and keep on with garden edges am putting in for a lady...what would we do without string lines....and paving sand...and wheelbarrows....

14.01.2022 last nights' job.....hopefully everything I plant in this customer's garden won't go the way of many in the past......

13.01.2022 Told you this would be a great before and after...slashed & mowed on high a week ago, and mow/catch yesterday, check out the 2 shots with the mower in them..9 bags of clippings!

13.01.2022 one of the gardens I look after.....the old African Daisy is common, but a great garden filler in cold or hot weather

12.01.2022 curve at other end of garden, and my client would like to do away with long straight line running off it .... angle of sun at end of day makes it difficult to see properly, but it looks really good....be better when the lawn grows over the new soil I laid down...had to dig 3 inches out as it had mulching stones all thru it, and lay fresh soil on top......

12.01.2022 Racing to try to beat the storm.....but didn't work. hoping for a Politician's storm (as in lots of noise and bluster but not much happening)...but not to be . Got not much more than this done and down she came, took shelter but not letting up, so came home....and as usual, hardly a thing here

10.01.2022 did this one yesterday......the mower went on a break afterwards...

09.01.2022 another great before and after......much better than a tidy lawn to start with, easier to see where you've been....

08.01.2022 did heap tree planting other day, 14 "Honey Gem": grevillea, and Strawberry Trees....still had to bring a trailer load of pine bark mulch to complete....3 months ago the owner got me to dig up 12 Red Gum from the river bank and plant in a paddock....had my doubts about moving gums, but 10 lived...pic one, here's how one looks. Surprised me....

07.01.2022 ok to start it was gonna be narrow then a wide section....ended up just being rectangular (I built the steps over a year ago)...owners wanted a small bricked area where just one or two could sit and overlook the fountain, and a bit private, so still have to put couple of camellias behind, and nandina along the sides....these blocks are 8 inches high, so a lot of dirt was dug out. Lucky it has been wet.....

07.01.2022 put heap of new roses into this garden last month....5 Bonicas in a row, just starting to burst forth!

06.01.2022 being avid gardener, how could you ever narrow it down to a favourite flower? Not talking shrub, tree, just the actual flower..the white pansy with black centre wins it, closely followed by yellow with black. Took these at a garden I maintain, and all the black centre's beat the plain colours, I reckon. When I got them, snails got into them, and only replacements I could get in a hurry were the plains.....but the accidental blue and white planted together is inspiring! 3 years ago planted the Viola/Hartsease/Johnny Jumpups, and 3 years later still have so many self sowns to make their own stunning displays

06.01.2022 these are the before and after "stills"

05.01.2022 row of tall white Iris in the garden I worked on today.....in front is a row of Brilliant Pink and White Icebergs, only planted this year so not real visible yet from a distance

05.01.2022 wonder how long before the umbrellas pop up again.....did it yesterday, bet if I go past tomorrow you won't know it was mowed 2 days before... and it needs another spray for khaki now too, did it 2 weeks ago and now a new crop has appeared....

01.01.2022 what a difference the sun makes..took first pic today at 7.30 and next one at 9

01.01.2022 got my chainsaw "fix" today.....owner needs this one done, and today being cool and about to be damp, perfect day before it gets hot/dry. Essentials for chainsaw safety....chaps, helmet with visor/eye protection, sturdy gloves and 2 chainsaws..if by chance miscalculate and jam the saw, have the other to cut way out of trouble. and lastly, working alone, have the mobile phone in my pocket so if an accident, don't have to reach for it...so if I come to your place to do chainsaw stuff, little chance you will have to deal with workcover.....
