24.01.2022 Who doesnt love an avo? It was actually one of the first solids I gave to both my kids when they were little. I think we all know that they contain loads of vitamins, minerals and good fats. But did you know that they're kind of like a 'nutrient-booster' for other foods?! So turns out they help your body absorb nutrients from other foods you're eating at the same time as the avocado. They're like the superhero of foods! Naturally nutrient-dense and contain healthy fats as well as dietary fibre. They contain almost 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients all beneficial to your diet.

22.01.2022 So silicone is classed as a hypoallergenic material because it has no open pores to harbour bacteria. Interesting fact - premium-grade silicone is also classed as a 'biocompatible material'. Simply put...'biocompatibility is the ability of a material to act and perform without impairing basic immunological functions of the body.'... Unlike many plastics :-/ Two reasons why silicone is so ideal for baby products. See more

Check out this recipe below - it's great as a baby puree BUT can also be used as a pasta sauce for bigger kids (leave out the rice). My kids love it because it makes their pasta pink :) PINK CREAMY CHICKEN PUREE... INGREDIENTS 140g (5 oz) chicken breast, cooked 115g (4 oz) pre-cooked brown rice 2 beetroot 2 tablespoon olive oil METHOD - Wash and chop the beets - Steam beets until soft, then allow to cool - Chop the cooked chicken breast into cubes ready for blending - Blend chicken, beets, pre-cooked rice and olive oil Note: add water as needed to reach the desired texture. Nom nom :) DID YOU KNOW? - Beets are high in essential minerals like potassium (for healthy nerve and muscle function) and also immune-boosting vitamin C. - Beets contain the B vitamin folate, which helps reduce the risk of birth defects, so are great for during pregnancy.

13.01.2022 On average, babies double their birth weight in 3 months and triple it within the first year. They also grow about 1-1.5 cm each month. If they kept this rapid growth up, by adulthood, babies would measure in at 51 metres tall!

12.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW... iron is essential for babies normal growth and development, especially in their first year. 'A baby’s iron stores run low in the second half of their first year. Iron deficiency can result if their diet doesn’t include enough iron-rich solid food. At around 6 months, two servings a day of plain, iron-fortified infant cereal mixed with breastmilk or infant formula can start to be given. Plain pureed meats can soon be offered with other solids, once your... baby is used to the cereal. Late introduction of solids into the baby’s diet is a common cause of iron deficiency in this age group.' [ info from www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au ] See more

03.01.2022 No kneecap? No worries. Babies make do without. In fact, a baby’s kneecap doesn’t develop until somewhere between 3-6 years of age. And even then, it's not quite like ours. It's a slow process that takes many years. By about age 10-12 the kneecap is fully developed into a bone.

02.01.2022 Great advice from a clever mum :)

01.01.2022 Take a moment to think twice about buying that item that will be in landfill in 12mths time... VS.... buying strong, durable products that last. Our motto: ‘buy once, buy well, pass it on’.

01.01.2022 Babies are born with a 'diving reflex' known as bradycardic response, which causes their body to naturally adapt to their surroundings when submerged in water. Bub’s heart rate will slow down and they will instinctively hold their breath when under water. What’s even more incredible is that, like fish, babies can actually breathe and swallow at the same time for the first few months of their life. They learn this talent while in the womb but begin to lose this ability around the 6-month mark.
