25.01.2022 THE IVF PROCESS While specific protocols can be different for different patients and doctors, here is a basic run down of an IVF/ICSI cycle: STIMULATION... Stimulation meds are taken (either at the end of a cycle or after your day 1) to make your ovaries grow multiple follicles. You will be monitored regularly by blood tests for: Oestrogen (E2) Luteinising Hormone (LH) Progesterone (P4) You will also be monitored by internal ultrasound. When your oestrogen and follicles peak, you will be told when to take your TRIGGER and your egg collection will be ~36 hours later. EGG/SPERM COLLECTION You will go into theatre, get sedated and have an internal ultrasound probe inserted with a needle. This needles draws out the follicular fluid which is sent to the Embryologist for examination and collection of eggs. Your eggs will be INSEMINATED with either IVF or ICSI (more to come on that in later posts) EMBRYO CULTURE The day after egg collection is DAY 1 - fertilisation results. Your embryos will hopefully start dividing and continue to develop over the next few days (embryo development posts to come). Your doctor will decide based on numerous factors such as hormones, endometrial lining, hyperstimulation etc. whether you can have an embryo transfer or to freeze all suitable embryos for later. EMBRYO TRANSFER A simple procedure similar to a Pap smear in which a speculum is inserted and then catheter placed inside to deposit the embryo(s). Any excess embryos may be frozen for future use TWW and PREGNANCY TEST Now, the waiting part: Your pregnancy test is usually 14 days after your egg collection but may be different depending on your doctor request. Which part was hardest for you?? #infertiliy #ivf #peelacupuncture #naturalsciences #acupuncturemandurah #acupuncturerockingham #acupuncturesecretharbour #acupuncturebaldivis #acupuncturewellard #acupuncturewaroona #traditionalchinesemedicine #mandurahbusiness
25.01.2022 8 MARCH 2020 The World Health Organization recommended Tuesday that people suffering COVID-19 symptoms avoid taking ibuprofen, after French officials warned tha...t anti-inflammatory drugs could worsen effects of the virus. The warning by French Health Minister Olivier Veran followed a recent study in The Lancet medical journal that hypothesised that an enzyme boosted by anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen could facilitate and worsen COVID-19 infections. Asked about the study, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva the UN health agencys experts were "looking into this to give further guidance." "In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. Thats important," he said. He added that if ibuprofen had been "prescribed by the healthcare professionals, then, of course, thats up to them." His comments came after Veran sent a tweet cautioning that the use of ibuprofen and similar anti-inflammatory drugs could be "an aggravating factor" in COVID-19 infections. "In the case of fever, take paracetamol," he wrote. The French minister stressed that patients already being treated with anti-inflammatory drugs should ask advice from their doctor. Paracetamol must be taken strictly according to the recommended dose, because too much of it can damage the liver. The COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected around 190,000 people worldwide and killed more than 7,800, causes mild symptoms in most people, but can result in pneumonia and in some cases severe illness that can lead to multiple organ failure. Even before the pandemic, French authorities sounded the alarm over serious "infectious complications" linked to the use of ibuprofen, which is sold under various brands like Nurofen and Advil, and other anti-inflammatory drugs. A spokesperson for British pharmaceutical company Reckitt Benckiser, which makes Nurofen, said in an email statement that the company was aware of concerns raised about "the use of steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) products, including ibuprofen, for the alleviation of COVID-19 symptoms." "Consumer safety is our number one priority," the spokesperson said, stressing that "ibuprofen is a well-established medicine that has been used safely as a self-care fever and pain reducer, including in viral illnesses, for more than 30 years." "We do not currently believe there is any proven scientific evidence linking over-the-counter use of ibuprofen to the aggravation of COVID-19," the statement said. The spokesperson said Reckitt Benckiser was "engaging with the WHO, EMA (the European Medicines Agency) and other local health authorities" on the issue and would provide "any additional information or guidance necessary for the safe use of our products following any such evaluation. 24.01.2022 The "Legs Up the Wall" posture is exactly as it sounds! You lie on your back with your sit-bones as close to the wall as is comfortable for you. From there, you extend your legs up the wall, so that the backs of your legs are resting fully against it. Some of its benefits include: Relaxation. 23.01.2022 Our minds can be our ally when it comes to prevent many dreadful situations, painful words, preventing sad emotions and illnesses. On the other hand, it can also be our enemy. We need to learn to take control, acknowledge the present moment and work to stay in control. It may take some time to learn to deal with our emotions but the effort its 100% worth it! 18.01.2022 It can be difficult to understand people's behaviours that differ from ours. The reality is that behaviours may reflect other conflicts and struggles that our friends and loved ones are going through. For most people, just asking if they are okay and listening can make a difference. Listening carefully to their responses without interrupting, being judgmental or offering solutions is a great way to be there for our friends and family. #mentalhealth #peelacupuncture... #stressrelief #anxietyrelief #naturalsciences #naturaltherapies #holistichealth #acupuncturemandurah #acupuncturerockingham #acupuncturesecretharbour #acupuncturebaldivis #acupuncturewellard See more
18.01.2022 What should you expect during an acupuncture treatment? A typical acupuncture session begins with a discussion of your problem and a physical examination. The a...cupuncturist may then stimulate certain points on the body, either by inserting the fine metal needles or using a laser. The needles used in acupuncture are typically much finer than the needles used to take blood, and the process is usually painless. Once the needles are inserted, they will be left in place while you lie still, and hopefully relaxed. As many as 20 needles may be used in one session. The needles may be turned or twirled as part of the treatment. The needles will be removed at the end of the session.

13.01.2022 Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone levels. The cause of polycystic ovary syndrome isn't well understood, but may involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Complications from PCOS may include infertility, gestational diabetes, miscarriage or premature birth, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. PCOS signs an...d symptoms are typically more severe if a patient is obese. Research from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) shows that women with PCOS have a certain dysfunction in the Beta cells, responsible for secreting insulin. These cells are responsible for detecting sugar in the blood stream and may over react, producing more insulin than needed. This means more glucose stored as fat! In addition, many (not all) women with PCOS have insulin resistance, meaning that the body needs more insulin than normal to deal with blood sugar. High levels of insulin cause the body to store more fat. Seek a professional if you have concerns about your menstrual period. 13.01.2022 If you count on dairy for bone-supporting calcium, chalk it up to compelling advertising. Remember the long-running Got Milk? campaign and the Milk. It does a body good. commercials? Thanks to more than 30 years of industry-funded marketing efforts like these, weve repeatedly heard the message that dairy is the best source for dietary calcium. But thats not necessarily the case. Americans have been fed a lot of misinformation about dairy products, including milk, says... Mark Hyman, MD, director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine and author of Food: What the Heck Should I Eat? There is no evidence that cows milk builds better bones. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. In addition to building bone, it supports a variety of metabolic functions including blood clotting, vascular contraction and vasodilation, muscle contraction (including heart contraction), and nerve transmission. Pretty much every cell depends on it, explains Dr. Mark Hyman. #eatwholefoods #calcium #calciumrichfoods #foodismedicine #wellness #nutrition #holisticnutrition #chinesemedicine #sardines #sesameseeds #eatyourgreens #spinach #collardgreens #turnipgreens #acupuncture #lifestylemedicine #functionalmedicine #delraybeach #peelacupuncture #mandurahlocal #supportlocalbusiness #mandurahbusiness See more

06.01.2022 There has been a lot of confusion after the messages from the Federal State Governments. Here are some facts to help you navigate around this confusing and unprecedented times. Current Facts as of 23/3/20: Chinese medicine is a registered profession and is regarded as an allied health profession by the Federal Government. Allied health is regarded as a primary health care service and thus serving as an ESSENTIAL NEED. Essential means absolutely necessary. So if patients... have a bad back or even a cough it is ESSENTIAL to THEM to get treatment. Our industry falls under both PRIMARY and ESSENTIAL. Primary is a ranking. Whatever is deemed as FIRST or MORE IMPORTANT falls under primary. The World Health Organisation regards traditional medicine practices as primary care and the Australian Government regards us as allied health and therefore primary care. https://www1.health.gov.au//NPHC-Strategic-Framework~phc-a *All information is current as of 23/03/2020. 06.01.2022 Hormones. When they are working properly they give you energy, glowing skin, motivation, positive moods, and all of the good things. But even a slight imbalance can cause PMS, acne, mood swings, weight problems, stress, anxiety, and more. So many people resign themselves to poor health and simply not feeling well just because they think its normal or its been going on for so long they dont see a way out of it. But hormone imbalance is not a personality trait . They are... meant to be changeable and flexible throughout life. The great thing about working with hormones is that when you correct one aspect, like getting your blood sugar regulated or stress levels (cortisol) balanced, the rest fall into place. Hormones work like a cascade, when something is off, the rest go out of balance in a downward spiral. But that means its just as easy to shift into an upward spiral of positive hormone balance as well. #peelacupuncture #hormonebalance #cortisol #progesterone #hormoneimbalance #pms #moodswings #anxiety #weightloss #estrogen #estrogendominance #pmssymptoms #periodpain #periodcramps #depression #womenshealth #fertility #bloodsugar #regulatehormones #hormones #acupuncture #holistichealth #natural #holistic See more

01.01.2022 From where did we get the idea that we can heal on our own? That we can gain our sense of safety alone? Western culture is obsessed with individualism. There is so much about the Self. There is so much about self-love, self-care, and self-healing. But is it really all about the self? Or are we perpetuating a trauma adaptation where others are not needed because I can do it on my own? ... I dont have the answer for you but I know this...to heal we need awareness but we also need people who can help us feel safe. Many tend to see the self as a separate entity. But the self is entangled with the connections of people around us. Healing our emotional wounds and developing healthy relationships happen in a relational field. We dont learn to be in relationships alone. You can read the books or do the online programs but the relational wounding component of healing needs relational healing. Healing can only happen in the context of a safe, supportive, attuned, and reparative experience with another human or animal friend. Out of all the people/pets in your entire life, who has provided you the most safety? You can always use them as a resource. The safety they made you feel is with you... even if they are no longer in your life. That safety is accessible to you anytime you want. You just need to close your eyes and take yourself right next to them. Safety can include taste, smells, texture, image, body sensation, and emotion. Give it a go!
