17.01.2022 Australians still continue to die of drownings in rivers and creeks more than anywhere else, including the ocean or backyard pools. Even though river drowning deaths specifically have reduced by 8 per cent, they are still now almost twice as common as backyard pool drownings!! Now is the time of year when the risks are greatest, so take care, be vigilant and look for hidden risks.

15.01.2022 Obesity in Australia is one of the biggest public health challenges facing the population. More than 60% of Australian adults and about quarter of children and adolescent are obese or overweight. Around 70% of obese adults are subsequently afflicted with one health condition such as heart disease, stroke, musculoskeletal diseases, hypertension, type 2 diabetes or impaired social functioning that increases their health care cost by at least 30%. Diet and lack of physical activity are most important risk factors for obesity. Nutrition Australia have developed simplistic guidelines to help eat healthy.
