20.01.2022 GP Profile: Dr. Amanda Penberthy Amanda grew up in Inverell and completed her medical training in Newcastle before moving to Tamworth. She lives with her partner Brad and their Kelpie, Roy. After completing her training in 2014 she worked at the Tamworth Base Hospital to finish her basic training. She has also worked in an Inverell practice before joining Peel Health Care. She is particularly interested in women's health, sexual health, preventative health, antenatal care and... lifestyle medicine. Outside of work, Amanda says, "I'm an avid indoor gardener and spend a lot of time cultivating my indoor jungle. I am also interested in photography and travel." 15.01.2022 New Immunisation scheduling Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander children are now eligible to receive a Government funded Meningococcal B vaccine (Bexsero) at the following times: Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander infants at 2, 4 and 12 months of age... Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander children with risk conditions for Meningococcal disease at 2, 4, 6 and 12 months of age Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander children less than 2 years of age, a catch up will be available until 30 June 2023 Changes have also been made to Pneumococcal vaccines for all children, adolescents and adults aged greater than 12 months of age with high risk medical conditions. These changes to the Meningococcal and Pneumococcal vaccination schedules under the National Immunisation Program came into effect 1 July 2020. Changes to the Meningococcal vaccines are aimed to make the vaccine more readily available and to give extra protection to people most at risk of Meningococcal disease. 10.01.2022 GP Profile: Dr. Daniel Diebold Daniel was born at Blacktown Hospital to migrant parents and began life at Scheyville Migrant Camp near Windsor. "[I was] conceived in France of a Swiss father and Franco-Italian mother and travelled foetally by ship to Australia. Great picture of my mother and I (in utero) climbing a tree in Tahiti. They were the days."... Daniel grew up in Sydney and lived mainly around the Northern Beaches. He completed his medical training at Sydney University and has been practicing medicine since 1989. He joined Peel Health Care in December 2005. His medical areas of interest are Diabetes and Occupational Health. Daniel is married with 7 children and 8 grandchildren. His interests outside of work are bushwalking, photography, sport, philosophy and spending lots of time with his family. He likes living and working in Tamworth because "it's country living, but not too country".

03.01.2022 GP Profile: Dr. Jenny May. Dr Jenny May has been at Peel Health Care since it's beginnings in 2005, and has over 25 years experience as a GP in rural and remote Australia. In 2014 she was awarded the Rural Doctor of the Year by the Rural Doctors Association of Australia. Jenny has wide ranging general practice interests including women's health, mental health and evidence based medicine. Jenny holds fellowships with both the Royal Australian College of GPs and the Australian ...College of Rural and Remote Medicine and is a GP Supervisor for registrars. Jenny is a passionate advocate for rural health services, and has participated in research, advocacy and advisory groups around rural health issues. In addition to her position at Peel Health Care, she is the Betty Fyffe Chair of Rural Health and Director of the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health. This role encompasses oversight of undergraduate teaching activities, research and evaluation in the joint medical program and allied health disciplines across a large rural footprint. She is also an examiner for the Royal Australian College of GPs. Jenny is fortunate to have a supportive husband, who is also a doctor, and three adventurous grown children. Her favourite sports are cricket and current affairs. She has a peacock named Pasquale, a Tesla battery and a garden for native plants and birds.
