13.01.2022 Loggerhead turtle White Hills Beach today 18th July. measurements taken, data sent to DBCA marine officer, total length from head to tip of tail 1 meter 21cm. Male, intact, include some barnacles, he had passed away a while ago, not at full decomp, slight odor, proberly just floating around on the Leeuwin current, stormy weather washed him up onto beach. I believe he died at sea, as their was no pooling of blood on the sand around his head or at his location. see pictures he was treated with respect and left on the beach for nature to decide a sad out come for a truly majestic marine animal.

11.01.2022 The tree that had the hollow that contained the eggs is going to be removed for housing, height was 32 meters, [part of my work is arboreal fauna relocation] the eggs belonged to a mountain duck, which is the only true hollow nesting duck, she laid 22 eggs, date of introduction to my 2 incubators was the 9th August, date of hatching was the 16th August, the normal incubation as in mum duck in hollow on her eggs is around 25 days incubation, 2 eggs were not fertile, but all ducklings are just perfect and absolutely and totally brilliant. a great way for conservation of this unique species.

10.01.2022 Hello possums here is a baby ringtail weight is 95gm [ which is not a lot] male, he has come through the night with a little bit of help, he is taking small amounts via spoon. will send [i hope] a video of him feeding. enjoy this little possum.

09.01.2022 interesting evening at Island Point this evening, lots of ringtail vocalisations, nil vocalisations from brushtails, no Quenda, 2 kangaroos, 1 deranged pink and grey galah hanging on the side of a tree trunk, bird was about 9 meters up, will check on it tomorrow, party of 3 humans in a white ute i think they thought their ute was a bicycle, as driving in certain areas is not safe especially for possums, I have the car registration. Pictures are of 4 ringtails, I misse...d pictures on 5 ringtails, as my battery was not well. The last picture is of a ringtail in a jacksonia [ tree looks prickly with very thin branches light green ] she has a surprise in her pouch, the pictures are not excellent quality, but the ringtails are excellent. first ringtail is in a jarrah tree, next is Melaleuca, then peppermint tree, then Jacksonia, 4 different vegetation species and ringtails forage in all 4 vegetation species. picture is of a hatchling Oblong turtle. huge isn't it. 09.01.2022 update on number 80, his weight is now 98.1 grams and improving every hour, other than when asleep, i suspect in 5 days time he will be well over 100grams, weight increments for ringtails can be between 1 gram to 1.5 grams per day, the right diet forage, forage species, is vital for ringtails, as ringtails have a short life cycle for a possum, brushtails live for around 7 years, ringtails around 4 years, so it is very important that you get it the diet, fora...ge species right. and the only way for this knowledge to be gained is to monitor populations of ringtails, over years of observations and monitoring, its something you cannot obtain from a book, or you can read up and be a full bottle, their is a lot of misinformation regarding ringtails on various platforms, as quantity of peppermint and only peppermint that ringtails eat, ringtails will not thrive given just a diet of peppermint, various colours of ringtails, tail colour, types of drey construction, I know what our ringtails prefer on a seasonal basis, and my forage species list is constantly updated. ringtails are not difficult they are a nocturnal animal, they are grazers, form clusters, perform amazing acts of tree climbing, leaping up to 2 meters, construct drey's using their tail as a means of carrying the dray material, we should be far more respectful to this small species of possum, as possums have no private agenda, no political affiliation, no religious views, just brilliant. 07.01.2022 Whats going on in my backyard? This morning I was visited by 8 long bill white tail black cockatoo's and I would like to share with you what they were up to. Pictures are females with their young, and the females were looking for bora lavae. Which they found , which is incredible, as bora live inside the limbs of certain species of trees, Acacia saligna, and at times Agonis flexuosa, the bora lavae can be up to 5 cm long full of protein which will help the females pr...oduce this seasons eggs and supply fat to the female when she is incubating her eggs, only 2 eggs she will produce, sometimes she will incubate and raise 2, but most of the time she will only raise 1. The incubation period is 4 weeks, she will sit on the egg or eggs the entire time, this is the part i like, the male, her life partner will come to her and feed her in the morning and the evening, [awesome no dishes to wash up] her life partner will watch over her hollow and maintain vocals with her, and play an active role in feeding their chick or chicks. 07.01.2022 Quick update on number 80, male infant ringtail , he is absolutely perfect, but he is underweight, which brings me to the conclusion that the area that he was found in, quiet possibly does not have enough food, 4 drey's were located 3 non active and 1 drey appeared to be empty, so where is his mum? the area was searched, as he still needs his mum, so unless something has happened to his mum [which I believe this has happened] he is on his own and he is in need of some care,... as infants can be given back to their mum as long as you can locate the infants mum and she is his mother and not another female, surrogacy does occur with ringtails, as well as brushtails. Until he can gain more weight and behave as a wild ringtail he is in care until he can be free. I am most concerned for this location he was found in as their is multiple plantings of Verbinea, which ringtails do not eat, minimal Agonis and some introduced Eucalyptus if the area had more flora diversity I would not have a problem taking him home, I will give this some serious thought.
