25.01.2022 Great weather for the Ducks The ducks really love this sort of weather, as the rain forms puddles and they seem to eat things (I am presuming worms)

25.01.2022 We had another 12 ducklings born on Thursday (12th May), one of them was born with a disability and died. We sold another 8 today, leaving 3 for the mother. These ducklings are our 4th generation of ducks, although we will probably not keep any of them, and sell them on as adults. We are a bit worried about Herman, which is our duck with angel wing, as she has separated himself from the group for the last few days and doesn't seem to be eating. We are keeping a close eye on... her and are hoping that she will be ok. Current Duck Population: Adults:4 Drakes, 15 Ducks, Herman (we are not sure what gender) Teens:1 Drake, 2 Ducks, about 9 weeks old Ducklings: 3 (5 days old) - pictured below with mother.

24.01.2022 Pee Wee our runt duck has died of natural causes. We are not sure what happened I saw him at Noon and gave him some food, and we couldn't find him this afternoon. We found him an hour ago dead under the house

24.01.2022 Beware: Learner Ducks flying nearby. One side effect of having a large number of ducklings, that we did not for foresee was that it can be slightly interesting - being in a yard, with several ducks that are starting to learn to fly. A few times, I have been in the yard, turned around and have a 4 kg bird flying directly at you - looking very awkward and not flying in a very straight line.... None have flown into me yet, and we will be clipping their wings soon, so it will be over soon. Its generally the females that are flying, the males are too heavy to fly too high or too far. The females can do about 10 to 20 meters about 1 to 1.5 meters off the ground.

19.01.2022 We will be selling 11 ducks today, taking out total from 27 down to a more manageable 16 ducks. We will have 2 males ... 2 runts (Pee Wee and Herman) 12 Females (6 per male) We are not sure how the two males will go longer term, if they do not get on, we will keep Donald (our oldest male) - and sell on the other as yet unnamed male. There is about 21 of the ducks visible in the picture below. The ducks are going to somewhere where they will be sold for eggs and pets and not used for meat.

06.01.2022 More #ducklings - Ebony - so far she has had 4, we are expecting to be about 10 by the end of the day. It is always an amazing feeling seeing new life hatch and how the mothers / ducklings / other ducklings interact. #FarmersLife
