22.01.2022 Hello to our most valued clients, With the COVID-19 virus rapidly unfolding, Pegasus Accounting has elected to take preventative measures to protect the health and well-being of our staff and clients. These changes include:... 1. Cancellation of most face-to-face appointments; to be replaced where possible with online alternatives; 2. Recommendation that all face-to-face advisory sessions be held online or by teleconference. If you have not as yet lodged your 2019 tax return, we would encourage you to either phone us to arrange an online appointment, or to email your accountant directly with information that we may need to complete your tax return by May 15 2020. If you have already sent in your information we will complete it as soon as we can for you. We can access information via the ATO portal, but details in regards to businesses, rental properties, shares, and deductions need to come from you, the client. We can prepare the majority of your information on our system then arrange for a phone/zoom appointment with you to complete the tax return and arrange for the electronic signing of paperwork. We recognise that these are challenging times, especially for small businesses and their employees, and will be looking for continual ways to offer support and advice through our network of expert advisers and the facilities available to us. We will continue to be available to you via email and telephone and will keep you updated as to how we will continue to provide this important service. Kind regards, Robyn Donnison CPA Director

15.01.2022 Sole Traders: Do you know how we calculate how much tax you pay? First, we work out the income that you make.... This income is all things you sell, and if you are registered for GST, we exclude the GST because it has already been paid to the Tax Office on the BAS. Then we take off all of the costs that you have to run the business. Think materials and supplies, telephone, insurances, subscriptions, office supplies, superannuation, wages, etc. if you have spent it in relation to earning your income, it will likely be tax deductible. Income - Costs = Profit. You pay tax on your profit. Your taxable income is made up of your sole trader Profit, plus any other work or investment income you have. Combined together, we work out which tax threshold you sit in, and then are subject to that amount of tax. https://www.ato.gov.au/Rates/Individual-income-tax-rates/ The more you earn, the more tax you pay.

15.01.2022 From all of us here, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and safe & Happy New Year. This office will be closed for the festive season from 12.30pm Friday 20th December and re-opening at 8.30am TUESDAY 7th January 2020. Drive safe, Stay safe and be Happy
