21.01.2022 GDay Torquers. Hard times upon us Im sure youd agree. Some of us have no work, some of us cant get to work, some of us can be at work but for extended perio...ds of time away from our families. Whatever the circumstance, this rona crap is really starting to grate on some Torquers, either by stress and depression or by not knowing how to put food on the table. Its times like these we need to stick together and make sure all our Torquer brothers are staying connected and feeling wanted. Check on a mate today. Give a fellow aviator a call, see how theyre going, listen without judgement and offer support. Follow up and make sure theyre good. Even those who seem the strongest on the outside can be affected the most on the inside. If you know theyre struggling for work, keep those ears to the ground and share anything you hear of- we certainly will. We are all in this together. We will come through the other side. Victory will be ours. If youre struggling- please reach out. Stay safe Torquers.

19.01.2022 R44 TOUCHDOWN AUTOROTATIONS - ENGINE OFF LANDINGS Take a look from the pilots perspective at a few flares of touchdown autos. The R44 has a good amount of iner...tia, making them a fairly docile and forgiving machine to land after the engine has failed. On this day we had approximately 12knots and a DA of only approximately 1000ft and the aircraft weighed approximately 980kgs - so we had a few conditions on our side. It’s important that once a pilot understands the basic principles of the flare - that they next understand the almost infinite variables which influence which type of flare you will do. The primary function of the flare in the autorotation is to reduce ROD and increase RRPM, while simultaneously reducing as much ground speed as possible, if you’ve done that right and end up levelling over above your desired landing spot, at a suitable height then you’ve done your job. (Disclaimer: the gopro wide angle is making our level over height look quite high, we are usually levelling over between 10-20ft) #jhc #jandakothelico #aviation #helicopter #pilot #pilotlife #helicopterpilot #flying #aviationlovers #instaaviation #instructor #instructorlife #flightinstructor #flyingschool #flighttraining #aviationgeek #robinsonhelicopters #r44 #robinsonr44 #autorotation #avgeek @the_helicopter_page @theheliclub @heliaddiction @robinsonhelicopter @robinsonsonly @east2955 @fred_north

18.01.2022 R22 engine RPM governor. Learn how this system assists the pilot in maintaining rotor rpm during flight. It is important to note that although we have demonstrated manual GOV control flight is prohibited with this system off except for emergency and training purposes. Enjoy!
