24.01.2022 Our gals are STRONG @sallyabbot @cjschumie @sammii__stjernqvist and @meganelshaw Working on their chin-ups in last weeks upper body session A lot of women we talk to have a goal of being able to do a chin up, many of whom think it’s out of reach ... Before we get into the HOW TO get a chin up part of this post, let’s talk about what won’t help you get one high intensity interval training as your main modality constantly changing your workouts each week / having too much variety in your program not following the progressions / putting the cart before the horse Now the how to part fixing your nutrition - believe it or not, but what you eat will make more or a difference than your training when it comes to the chin-up... too much fat is a dead weight, too little muscle and you lack the ability to produce enough force to lift yourself. Focussing on protein intake is a good idea here work from the top down - ie, start at the top of the chin up with your chin above the bar and slowly lower yourself to a hanging position - this will allow you yo build strength through the range you need it be consistent, and progressively overload the movement each week (go slower/add external weight Put these three things together and, hey presto... you’ll be doing chin ups before you know it We’re coming to the end of the first block of this season and everyone’s put in the work so we’re looking forward to seeing some more PBs this week . 19.01.2022 Here’s a few things we here at Pegasus... We love handstands We love being able to put our hands over our heads without pain... we love lifting heavy stuff above our heads All of these things transfer over to day to day living... if you can get strong in overhead positions, life gets better You’ve gotta walk before you can run though, if you try and go straight into heavy over head lifts or handstands without dealing with mobility of stability issues in the shoulder joint then things won’t go too well for you We use overhead plate carry’s and holds to start getting some load in those overhead positions or as a warm up for handstands or overhead lifting As always, stay within your abilities and progress to heavier weights intelligently

15.01.2022 When it comes to cardio, our aim is to focus on the MUSCLE rather than purely the HEART... focussed = long duration (20 sec plus), high intensity efforts with minimal rest, and a focus on fatigue / sweating / heart rate screaming focussed = sub maximal compound strength movements, sleds, weighted carries, body building style movements that focus on the muscle... Why do we do this? 1 We want to build and maintain muscle. 13.01.2022 [GET A GRIP] In my experience it’s usually the things you least enjoy or think you suck at are actually your biggest opportunity Grip training certainly isn’t glamorous. ... I wouldn’t call it fun And when we train grip In the gym It’s usually accompanied by a fair bit of colorful language directed at the coaching team But if you’re not already, here’s why you want to train to increase your grip strong grip is correlated with length of life - grip training directly increases your brains capacity to power up your entire nervous system... that means better balance, coordination and function of all your vital systems improves wrist and elbow health by increasing the strength in your forearms making them more adept at dealing with any force you put through your arms and protecting your joints better overall strength - you’re only as strong as what you can hold. If your grip is stronger, you’ll lift more weight, and other lifts will improve better body composition - if you can lift more, you’ll be able to continuously force your body to adapt to more stimulus which will lead to more muscle and better body composition If you want all this and to be able yup easily open salsa jars... give these bad boys a go @coachroxi @theearly30sstrengthcoach

03.01.2022 [FOOD] . What do you fuel yourself with? . For me this is a typical breakfast most days ... . 2 steaks 2 eggs Salt Citrus juice 1L water . A typical dinner would be similar . I don’t do this every day . sometimes I’ll eat poached eggs on sourdough . Sometimes I’ll eat a pizza . Sometimes I’ll skip a day or eating altogether . Point is - this style of eating opens the door for a bit more freedom . It’s non restrictive, you can eat until you’re full without too much fear of putting on body fat . You don’t have to meticulously count calories . You don’t have to think to hard about what you’re going to eat . It allows you to enjoy some of life’s pleasures without fear of undoing all your hard work dieting . Bottom line is... if you’re looking to get lean, build muscle, feel great and have a heap of energy - then it’s worth giving this a shot for a while and see how you feel .
