19.01.2022 ASTRO AND NELSON With all the chatter that often comes along following large race meets such as The Melbourne Cup, we thought it timely to tell you all a little about our special boys. Astro Damus - top two photographs.... ‘Astro’ was foaled 2008. He came to us from the racing stable of John Croucher. He had a successful career until he decided he was sick and tired of running fast. Total prize money $139,000. Segregation - bottom two photographs. ‘Nelson’ (stable name) was foaled 2011. He came to us from the racing stable of Simon Croucher Racing. Owned in part by Gino and I during his racing career. Sadly he was forced to retire due to injury. Total prize money $154,445. Both of these boys were welcomed to Peg’s Place in 2018 to see out their retirement. Initially I was overwhelmed by their pure stature and presence. Anyone who knows thoroughbreds knows that they can see a shark in a rain puddle! They quickly became integral members of our ever growing family.
