05.01.2022 Blast from the Past - PEGS Archives PEGS 150 Years Comparison photos - front of Raleigh Street house, Essendon Campus 1926 (Northern Grammar School) and 2020 (Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School) Northern Grammar School moved to the Raleigh Street site in 1925. Previously the school, then known as Northern Presbyterian College, had been at the Ascot Vale Presbyterian Sunday School Hall in Maribyrnong Road, then at the schoolrooms at St John's Church, Essendon. Northern Grammar School merged with St Thomas' Grammar School in 1934 and formed the new Essendon Grammar School at the Raleigh Street site.

02.01.2022 Blast from the Past - PEGS Archives 1926 Northern Grammar School - Whole school group on the verandah of the Raleigh Street house (Donor: Williams Family [PH04380]) Northern Grammar School moved to the Raleigh Street site in 1925 as it changed its name from Northern Presbyterian College. The Raleigh Street site continued to be used for the new school, Essendon Grammar School, formed by the 1934 merger of St Thomas' Grammar School and Northern Grammar School. Things to notice...: - the star on the boys' caps mostly has the point at the front. Can you spot some that aren't? - although this was a boys' school there are are girls in this photo too, including one we think is Mr Woolacott's daughter, Bronwyn. - there are also teachers standing at the back See more
