Please see below info on how the clinic will now operate: We will continue to see patients with acute dental pain or infection for as long as we can do so safely and are allowed to... We will do this under strict protocols to ensure safety of both staff and patients We cannot perform procedures that generate aerosol: ie no scale and cleans, routine fillings or filling of asymptomatic broken or chipped teeth We cannot see you if you are unwell, have travelled or been in contact with someone who has in the past 14 days, or have had contact with a known or possible case of COVID 19 If you are in pain and are in any of the above categories, please contact the National Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 020 080 Please do not bring any friends or family to your appointment unless the patient is under 18 and requires a guardian present Please call or email with any queries rather than walk in to reception Please see our previous post on protocol for arriving at your appointment Our opening hours will be varied moving forward, if we are unable to answer the phone please leave a message or send an email and we will get back to you This is an evolving situation and may change. We will continue to update you as we receive further information

Our tech company is working to fix as soon as possible. 23.01.2022 This year we will be taking a short break during the festive season, closing on 21st Dec 2019, re-opening on 6 Jan 2020. We want to say a big thank you to all that have supported the practice in 2019 and wish you a happy and safe Christmas and New Year! A special thank you as well to this amazing team of Pelago Dental ladies, and to Los Cafe and Just You for a relaxing morning of eating and pampering!

22.01.2022 Just an update that the online booking portal, for appointments with Dr Zi, is back up and running (hooray!) This can be accessed via our Google business listing or the website at www.pelagodental.com.au Stay tuned as you will soon be able to complete all your medical questionnaire paperwork online too, both saving the need for pesky paper forms and helping the environment!

22.01.2022 Youre brushing twice a day, but are you brushing correctly? Find out here! Happy Dental Health Week!

22.01.2022 Its world breastfeeding week! And what does this have to do with teeth and the Dentist you may ask? Well a lot actually: 1. Breastfeeding may have a positive effect on the development of your childs bite 2. You dont have to wean your baby because they start getting teeth... 3. Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of baby bottle decay 4. It is both safe and beneficial to your baby for you to still attend dental visits during pregnancy and breastfeeding Want more info? Our friends at the American Dental Association have put together some great info for nursing Mums, go to the page below to check it out! https://www.mouthhealthy.org/en/az-topics/b/breastfeeding

21.01.2022 Friday Funny from How to Dad! Which one are you?

21.01.2022 After the long weekend (from Tuesday 28th April, 2020), there will be some easing of the restrictions on the provision of dental services with a move from Level 3 to Level 2. Unlike level 3 restrictions, some non-emergency dental treatment can now be provided. Unfortunately though, this is a not a return to business as usual, which is what a lot of the media coverage seems to have suggested. If you have a dental concern and are unsure if this can be managed under the current level of restrictions, please contact reception on 9185 4849 between 8am and 4pm weekdays. You can also leave a message or send an email to [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

20.01.2022 Pelago Dental wishes the Dads of Karratha a very Happy Fathers Day today!

19.01.2022 The day has arrived! We are now able to perform scale and cleans under Level 1 Restrictions! As of today, 11 May 2020, we will also be able to resume all normal dental procedures, subject to continued strict screening protocols. Rest assured we are also maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness and social distancing protocols to keep our patients and staff safe. ... We ask for your understanding as we try to contact everyone waiting as soon as we can, to schedule your appointment. Remember - if you are unwell, have traveled in the past 14 days or had suspected or confirmed contact with someone who has had COVID-19 #stayhome We look forward to seeing you all again!

19.01.2022 Even the elves are getting their dental treatment sorted before Christmas! This year we will be operating as normal until Thursday 24th December, where we will be closing early at 1pm for Christmas Eve. We will remain closed for the week of the 28th December, so that our staff can enjoy a well-earned break with their families, and re-open again at 8am Monday the 4th January, 2021... Need to make an appointment before the Christmas break? Call us on 9185 4849 or email [email protected]

18.01.2022 ONLINE BOOKINGS are temporarily suspended due to the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need to contact us, please call reception directly on 08 9185 4849 or email [email protected] We will respond as soon as we can... Please note that regulations on the provision of dental services came in to place last week, and dental practices in Australia can currently only see patients who pass COVID triage and require emergency treatment.

18.01.2022 Introducing Dr Ingrid Spinks, who has recently joined us in Karratha and hails all the way from southern NSW. Online bookings are available with Dr Ingrid at bit.ly/pelagodentalbooknow She will be taking over from Dr Zi Lin Sun, who we were very sad to say goodbye to at the end of 2019, as she embarked on her travel adventure!... Dr Ingrid has already survived her first cyclone and has not been scared off by the heat, as where she grew up it gets just as hot (but not as humid). Like our principal dentist Dr Kathryn Randall, she grew up outside of the city and loves the country lifestyle. She believes that being a dentist is a privilege because she can help with your comfort, function and have you smiling again. She aims to provide patient-centred care in a relaxed environment. So if you are nervous about dental visits, rest assured Dr Ingrid will make you feel at ease! Aside from dentistry, she enjoys reading, arts & crafts, hiking and hockey, and is looking forward to exploring the national parks on her weekends!

17.01.2022 UPDATE - COVID 19 and your dental appointment In line with social distancing requirements and to comply with guidelines from the Australian Dental Association, we now require that all patients remain in their cars and phone the practice reception on 9185 4849 to notify us of your arrival for your appointment. This is in the interest of your safety and allows our patients to avoid waiting together in the waiting room. If you need to complete a new patient medical questionnai...re, we can email you a link directly to your device. It takes a few minutes to create an account, which then allows you to complete your form on your own device while you wait. Alternately, if you would like to complete your form in advance please contact us and we can send you a PDF version that you can complete at home and scan and email back to us. We thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times, as we work together to continue to provide you with dental services in the safest possible way!

17.01.2022 Hoping that all our Karratha Mums are being spoiled today Happy Mother's Day!

16.01.2022 Just a reminder we are OPEN tomorrow, Monday 5th Aug (Fenaclng public holiday) Call 08 9185 4849 or book online bit.ly/pelagodentalbooknow

15.01.2022 Fact: only about 50% of Australians brush their teeth the recommended 2 times per day! Most are only brushing once... To get the full health benefits of brushing it should be done twice a day, for 2 minutes, and using a toothpaste containing fluoride.... Technique is key, and harder is not better. Use a soft bristle brush or if you find it hard to reach certain areas an electric brush may be for you. Not sure? Need advice? Our friendly dentists are here to help, call 08 9185 4849 or book online bit.ly/pelagodentalbooknow

14.01.2022 Did you floss yet today? 40% of Australians didnt...EVER...putting themselves at risk of tooth decay, bleeding gums and even teeth becoming loose due to gum disease! It is recommended to floss at least once a day... If you need some more motivation, there are also studies that show poor gum health may be linked to heart and lung disease, as well as pre-term and low birth weight babies in expectant mothers.

13.01.2022 Its Dental Health Week! Dental Health Week (August 5-12) gives us a great chance to spread oral-health messages - like this one! For more on oral health, take... a look at the fact sheets on our website: adawa.com.au Happy Dental Health Week!

12.01.2022 Due to the upcoming maternity leave of one of our lovely ladies, we are now looking for a dental assistant to join the Pelago Dental team!

11.01.2022 UPDATE - COVID-19 and your dental appointments The safety of our patients and our team is of utmost importance. Our clinic remains open and we want to reassure our patients that we are taking all necessary precautions to prevent transmission of this virus.... Please remember all patients will be asked screening questions via phone or SMS prior to attending their appointment In the interest of keeping everyone healthy, we ask that any patients who are unwell reschedule their dental visit (diarrhea/stomach upset, fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) All patients that have travelled overseas in the past 14 days or been in contact with someone who has should be self-isolating, and will have their appointments rescheduled a minimum of 2 weeks later and will then be able to attend if they show no signs of illness. Again, thank you for your understanding and and helping us to keep the practice running safely at this difficult time.

11.01.2022 You are what you eat...73% of 14-18 year olds are consuming more sugar than is recommended We know too much sugar isnt good for our general health, but why is it so bad for teeth? Because it causes tooth decay, and this is how...... Tooth decay is a preventable diet related disease. It is caused by the sugars in food and drink we consume being taken up by bacteria that live in the mouth and turning it in to acid This acid eats away at the outer layer of the tooth, the enamel, eventually causing a cavity

10.01.2022 Update - the clinic will be CLOSED tomorrow, Friday 7th Feb 2020 due to the impending cyclone and DFES advice that yellow alert will take effect by 9am. Please note that all appointments scheduled for tomorrow will unfortunately be cancelled. We will re-open when the all clear if given. Stay safe everyone!

08.01.2022 Lovely flowers from the lovely Karratha Florist to brighten up our day! Thanks Trish!

06.01.2022 The World Health Organization recommends adults consume fewer than six teaspoons of sugar each day. Given there are 16 teaspoons in a 600ml bottle of cola, thats something to think about! For more diet and nutrition tips, take a look at this video created for Dental Health Week.

06.01.2022 With a cyclone potentially on the way, here is an update on how the clinic will operate In BLUE alert, we will remain open and appointments will be as normal If YELLOW alert is declared by 8am, the clinic will remain closed that day... If YELLOW alert is called during the day, we will close as soon as possible, we will endeavor to contact you confirm if your appointment needs to be re-scheduled due to closure In RED alert we will remain closed until the ALL CLEAR is given. If your appointment was affected by the closure we will contact you as soon as we re-open to re-schedule Please keep following our Facebook page as further updates will be posted here
