24.01.2022 Nominations close this week.

24.01.2022 Accessing the revised JobKeeper support Accessing the revised JobKeeper support Dear Ardal, The tight eligibility for JobKeeper after September will be eased slightly, to enable businesses that have not yet meaningfully recovered to keep their access to the wage subsidy.... Businesses will have to demonstrate a fall in turnover each quarter compared to last year, rather than in successive quarters. Access the revised JobKeeper 2.0 wage support info here Under the previous criteria, to qualify in the December quarter, businesses had to demonstrate a fall in turnover for both the June and September quarter. But for many businesses, factors like the end of the financial year and the early withdrawal of super produced a non-permanent boost which knocked off their eligibility. When the revision to JobKeeper was announced, CCIWA identified this risk to businesses that remain unsteady and, through our national body ACCI, called for the revision that was delivered on Friday. It shows the Federal Government has again listened to the calls of the Chamber movement and the business community. JobKeeper was recently extended until March 2021, at a new rate of $1,200 and $750 for those working fewer than 20 hours per week. In the long term, refining and extending this critical scheme until March 2021 is a prudent approach, in the best interests of the economy. Fridays announcement is another demonstration of the concerns to CCIWA members being meaningfully addressed by the Federal Government. We could not secure these important wins for WA without your membership, and we are always eager to hear about issues affecting your business. Kind regards Chris Rodwell Chief Executive Officer This email was sent to you because you are a member of, or have agreed to receive information from CCIWA. 24.01.2022 During this pandemic, many Western Australians will be facing cost of living pressures. We understand these are going to be hard times for so many vulnerable f...amilies. So were doing what we can to help ease that pressure. Thats why weve doubled our Energy Assistance Payment to $600. You can apply for this payment if you hold either a Pensioner Concession Card, a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, or a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card. You can also apply if you hold a Health Care Card which comes with many of the Centrelink payments such as JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Austudy and a range of others. Links and details about each card are in the comments below. If youre eligible and signed up for the Energy Assistance Payment, youll receive the first $300 directly in May. This is a targeted way to provide some relief to Western Australians who are struggling in these difficult times. After all, were in this together.

17.01.2022 Weve just announced a huge boost that will help thousands of Western Australians access TAFE and training courses with massive cuts to fees and a range of shor...t courses that will be completely free. As the economy recovers, skilled workers across a range of trades and occupations will be in high demand, which means that training will be vital to develop a skilled workforce. Our new $57 million package to support TAFE and training with make sure Western Australians can access the courses and training they need to access jobs in key areas. Last year we slashed fees on 34 WA TAFE courses with our Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Today were expanding that to cover another 39 courses - including things like agriculture, construction, plumbing, electrical trades, METRONET, nursing, early childhood education, manufacturing, community services and more. Fees for all these courses will be cut by at least 50%, with some course costs slashed by as much as 72%. From the second semester, the maximum annual fee students will pay is capped at $400 for concession students and youth and $1,200 for non-concession students. Weve also provided $25 million for Free TAFE Short Courses that have been developed alongside industry to engage displaced workers and youth and meet immediate and emerging skill requirements as the economy recovers. The free short courses will provide a launch-pad for students to up-skill for new jobs and provide pathways to full qualifications. The initial list of 15 short courses will be available to around 13,500 Western Australians and includes courses in heavy vehicle training, hospitality, logistics, cyber security, agriculture, civil construction and small business. The free short courses can also be used as a credit towards a full qualification from the expanded Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Enrolments for the TAFE courses will open on Monday 6 July 2020. For more information visit www.jobsandskills.wa.gov.au or contact your local Jobs and Skills Centre on 13 64 64. We have also put in place our Apprenticeship and Traineeship Re-engagement Incentive to get apprentices and trainees who lost their contracts during the COVID crisis back on the job. The Incentive provides employers with a one-off payment of $6,000 for hiring an apprentice and $3,000 for hiring a trainee whose training contract was terminated on, or after, March 1, 2020. Theres never been a more important time to invest in training and with these initiatives, theres never been a better time to learn new skills.

15.01.2022 A reminder that our AGM is on tonight!

14.01.2022 This is the last and final call for all women in rural and regional WA to express interest in a limited pool of scholarship funding that has to be allocated by the end of September. The fee support opportunity provides women across the state with funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 (per applicant, subject to a set of selection criteria being met) to undertake a range of leadership development programs commencing in coming months. Interest has been strong and many high-calibr...e candidates have already been awarded some of the partial scholarships. Stakeholders and creditors want to take this opportunity to thank all partners and associations for their support to date. Due to COVID-19, many individuals have asked for more time to determine if the opportunity is right for them. To ensure equitable access to the grants, WLA has extended the funding window until September 25. It is important to note that it is uncertain when the funding window will be available again. More information and initial expressions of interest are available here: https://www.wla.edu.au/funding.html

07.01.2022 WHICH CONTAINERS = CASH Are you getting excited for the Containers for Change WA scheme? From October 1st youll be able to exchange some drink container...s for a 10 cent refund. Info sessions are being held across the state to help get people ready- heres some of the things you need to know: Whats accepted? ( 1 ) Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a refund. Whats not accepted? ( 2) White milk bottles, wine bottles, pure spirit bottles, cordial and pure juice containers over 1L are not accepted because traditionally these drinks are consumed at home Also any containers that are less than 150ml and greater than 3L. Can I crush the cans? Yep, as long as you can still tell that they are a can. Can I start collecting drink containers now? No, you cant start hoarding containers. The scheme doesnt start until October 1st, so you are supposed to have purchased and consumed the containers you recycle October 1st. (We know what youre thinking - how will they know Well, if you rock up on October 1st with 500 drink containers they might guess that you didnt consume all those drinks in a few hours.) What about the lids? There will be a different box to recycle the lids- but you must the lids from each container. If youve got other questions like how do I get my money? Or where will refund stations be set up? Check out more info here: https://www.containersforchange.com.au/wa Will you make the effort to take drink containers to a recycling refund point from October 1st?

05.01.2022 Weve just announced the details of Phase 3 of our roadmap for the easing of restrictions, with significant changes coming into effect on Saturday 6 June. As pa...rt of our carefully planned roadmap, Western Australia is now ready to take the next step. This next step will be significant, and it will be challenging. Before I detail the changes, I will say this - WAs success allows us to move ahead and take significant steps, BUT we all must continue to act responsibly, that means good physical distancing where possible and good personal hygiene. Because if we have an uncontrolled outbreak, I dont want to have to place restrictions back on. We cannot afford to undo all our good work. Phase 3 will be introduced from next Saturday, thanks to the success in limiting community transmission in WA during Phase 2, and on the advice of our Chief Health Officer and State Emergency Coordinator. As part of Phase 3, the follow changes will occur: - Non-work indoor and outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people will be allowed, a five-fold increase from the current 20-person limit. - Up to 300 people will be allowed in some settings, including for indoor or outdoor venues with multiple, divided spaces, with up to 100 people in each space. - All food businesses and licensed premises can now operate with seated service only, and alcohol may now be served without a meal at licensed premises. - All beauty therapy and personal care services can reopen, including saunas and wellness centres. - Galleries, museums, theatres, auditoriums, cinemas and concert venues can reopen with the 100/300 rule followed. - Perth Zoo will open, as can wildlife parks, amusement parks, arcades and indoor play centres. - Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gym equipment can reopen. - Gyms, health clubs, indoor sports centres will be able to offer the normal range of activities, including use of all gym equipment. However, Gyms will need to be staffed at all times and undertake regular cleaning. - Full contact sport and training will now be permitted in Western Australia. This will mean from next weekend, people of all ages will be able to start competitive contact sports. - Parents and guardians will be able to enter school grounds to drop off or pick up their children as part of Phase 3. - TABs are permitted to reopen. The Chief Health Officer will separately work with Crown Casino on how the gaming floor could reopen in the future. These are all major steps forward for Western Australia. Phase 3 will be a big leap but its one we can make under the watchful eye of our expert health advisors. The four square metre rule was introduced in line with health advice. I know its a rule that is hurting businesses. Ive been out for dinner in Rockingham and seen tables and chairs stacked up, because the four square metre rule is limiting the number of people that can be in some venues. As was always going to be the case in Phase 2, the four square metre rule prevented a large number of businesses from opening. As we now increase the limit on gatherings to 100, I wanted to make sure we closely assess this rule. Our Chief Health Officer has now advised, that due to WAs hard border with the east remaining in place, Western Australia is now in a position to move ahead of the national advice. As part of Phase 3, Western Australia will be the first State in the nation to remove the rule and instead implement a two square metre per person capacity rule for venues. This will replace the four square metre rule, which is the current national position. This is an important and substantial move forward our State, and I hope it means many more businesses will be able to open and employ more Western Australians. I know its still not perfect, but we are now able to move ahead of the rest of the nation. In addition, as part of Phase 3, Rottnest Island will reopen to the WA general public. Rottnest has served us well as our own quarantine island during this crisis. We can only make these changes because of the hard work of everyone across our State. But in particular our hard border controls give us the flexibility to progress further along on roadmap. Once again, WA has led the way, and I hope our performance can continue to lay the path forward for the other States. Now is the time for Western Australians to wander our great State and support local businesses. Just like Phase 2, we will carefully monitor the introduction of Phase 3 and its impact in our community. Together, as part of a rigorous consultation process involving the Chief Health Officer and Police Commissioner, we will closely assess Phase 3. We will then work towards further restrictions being eased as part of Phase 4 in coming weeks. This will predominantly be focused on even larger gatherings, the new two square metre rule and some of the other existing restrictions. A time for Phase 4 introduction will be determined in the future, but it will follow the approach we have taken between earlier phases.
