09.01.2022 Another option for when you come down to ride Pemberton. Need a view of stunning coastline, islands of Karri and the D’Entrecasteaux National Park as the the end point of a great walk, Mt Chudalup is a good one to put on your list when you come to the Southern Forests. It is located halfway between Northcliffe and Windy Harbour, about 40-45 minutes south of Pemberton with a walk up through Karri trees growing around the edges of Mt Chudalup.... Mt Chudalup is a monadnock, an isolated hill of granite (bedrock) standing conspicuously above the general level of the surrounding area overlooking the Southern Ocean . A 187 metre climb and you can see for kilometres. In winter you can watch the fronts sweeping in and in spring and summer enjoy the wildflower display in the forest on your walk/climb to the the top. The stunning view to the east is Chatham Island near Walpole and sand dunes to the north west. There are picnic facilities, toilets and an information shelter. Mt Chudalup can be linked in with a visit to the Explore, Understory Art in Nature, The Sculpture Walk at Northcliffe Visitor Centre and a visit to Windy Harbour.

09.01.2022 Paul Van Der Ploeg has written his thoughts on growing up in a trail town Mount Beauty in Victoria. Pemberton is working towards accreditation as a Western Australian trail town, part of the WA State Trail Town Strategy. The strategy is aimed at provided high quality trails, developing infrastructure, partnerships, conducting research on what users want, connecting the town to trails and marketing to encourage visitors and locals to come to the Southern forests and enjoy the trails collection on offer.

07.01.2022 Pemberton is part of the mix: WA state government Tourism recovery plan announced today. Funding for the trail Town project. Millions will be spent developing trails and 'trails towns' around the State to service existing and new trails to attract more visitors to national parks. In addition to walking trails there is $20 million for bike trails in Kalamunda and Mundaring in the Perth Hills, and regional WA including Albany, Denmark, Mount Barker, Plantagenet, Pemberton and M...argaret River. https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//WA-Recovery-Plan-in

03.01.2022 Trees removed from Cool Running Uphill, Pirate Trail, Relentless Blue, Pumphill Uphill, Pinch Track, and Longshanks. Lots of wattles and trees down. Nearly Gnarly has been cleared for the first 800 metres, working through the remainder of the track. Tracks are really grippy and the weather is on the turn with Spring making its first foray this week, yeh!
