25.01.2022 I have been a very busy bee working in the background this week on a social movement we are calling #SponsorScrubs It’s about helping the healthcare workers in this time of crisis in a very practical way. We want to create scrubs for them so they have more than one pair... imagine coming home from a really hard and long day working in the hospital, and having no choice but to wash and dry your uniform so you can wear it again the next day, and then do it all over again the ne...xt day! And the next day and the next. Our health care workers are working as hard as they can, let’s try and make their life a little easier. This social movement will also help people like myself, who would otherwise be engaged in working and selling at the markets, but now we can not. It means a win win for us all... we get to help out the nurses and doctors that are on the front line of the covid mess, and if you decide to sponsor me, you get to employ me to do something meaningful and helpful throughout this time of need. The sponsorship is $45, and this money pays for the fabric (per scrub set you need approximately 3 metres of fabric) and a little of my time to make up the set. You can find out more information here on my website, and you will find a link to pay for the sponsorship on there too. I will also add the sponsorship link in the comments below. Thank you to all for your support! http://www.penelopered.com.au/sponsor-scrubs

25.01.2022 I have been trying on our first pair of scrubs for our social movement #SponsorScrubs We are creating scrubs to help our nurses and doctors who are on the front line fighting this awful covid thing! We hope to make loads of scrubs sets up, but we need your help by sponsoring us! Read more about it all here: http://www.penelopered.com.au/sponsor-scrubs

24.01.2022 Feeling bored yet?! As promised, I am coming up with a list of ideas to keep you busy while isolating. Some of you have probably beat me on this one, but Incase you haven’t, a great way to occupy your free time this week, is to sort out your wardrobe... and why stop there? Why not sort out your entire bedroom?! Make it the cosy, gorgeous room it deserves to be!!! My top tops for sorting out your wardrobe are: 1. Sort out a pile of LOVE pieces, a pile of MAYBES and a pile of ...not so great. 2. The LOVE pieces should be clothing you wear that you instantly feel fabulous in! It should be designs that people frequently comment on, and you look forward to wearing. Hang these up neatly in your wardrobe. 3. The MAYBE’s: you now need to try EVERYTHING on! This is probably full of a lot of pieces that perhaps don’t fit you quite right. If so, I suggest you be realistic. No one should feel like they need to loose weight every time they look at their wardrobe. Imagine if you didn’t have that piece... would you feel better about yourself? Or would you miss it? If you would feel better about yourself if you got rid of it, put it on the chuck pile. If you would miss it- it may be something sentimental, then perhaps put it in another area of the house. (I have read an interesting article about perhaps keeping a holiday box or a sentimental box of clothing for such items) 4. Not -so- great or Throw out items: if there are some good quality items in this pile, why not give them to charity? There are some great options! Any office wear could go to a great charity named Dressed for Success, a charity where they help women, from domestic violent homes, get work and interviews so they can make it in their own. Of course, Vinnies and the Smith Family are great options for the other types of clothes in good condition. 5. Now, if you have a wardrobe sized like mine... and where you must share it with the hubby... this is for you...honestly our wardrobe is tiny!!!! I generally sort out my LOVE items, and the maybes I want to keep, into a few other piles. 6. Love pile/clothing you are keeping: sort them out into Winter or Summer. I basically store the opposite season inside my travel bags when they are not in use. It’s not my ideal... my ideal is to have a walk in wardrobe like Carrie on Sex in the City!!! But, we work with what we have! Like I said, the maybes that are only being kept for sentimental (and realistically I don’t wear) I box up- but be aware- don’t start hoarding boxes and boxes of stuff you don’t need! Limit yourself to ONE box for this. So if it’s full, you must get rid of something to put something else inside it. And with these tips it should help a little, for those people who don’t know where to begin. I am feeling motivated to do this to my wardrobe today ... I might and post some pics in the comments! https://pin.it/4HAwK35

24.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Happy Easter and long weekend! What are you doing with all this free time we have now? I am definitely going to catch up on some Netflix and Stan! I feel like I haven’t had much time for that (somehow?! Who knows how that happened with all this time that we have now? )... but I have also spent a bit of time cutting out some scrubs! And I will be sewing some up later this weekend. The second pic shows you the sets all cut. At the moment our social movement #SponsorScrubs can make a lot more scrubs sets, but we need more sponsors to help us pay for the fabric and a little for the labor. If you would like to find out more check out my website here and follow SSponsorScrubs http://www.penelopered.com.au/sponsor-scrubs

24.01.2022 Just finished this bolero jacket today, featuring a Liberty of London cotton print (and silk lining). This jacket has a slightly different fit to my other boleros I have made before as it has a small dart under the bust to give the front more shape.

24.01.2022 I have had loads of time to take photos of some new designs! Most of these new designs are currently in my Etsy shop, along with the #SponsorScrubs listing. To remind you again, Sponsor Scrubs is all about providing much needed scrubs uniforms for our healthcare workers, while also keeping small business IN business! To sponsor it costs $45 per set of scrubs (top and pants) and this cost covers the cost of materials as well as paying a small income for me to make them up. ...If you normally buy from me each season it’s a way of keeping me in business, while still doing something worthwhile in this difficult time. My Etsy shop with most of these designs and the sponsor scrubs listing can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PenelopeRed

22.01.2022 How are we all feeling? It’s sort of mixed for me. In some ways there is a silver lining- no need to race around (loving that!), no need to stress about getting a mountain of work done, or getting my son, David, ready for school (no lunch boxes- yay!), plenty of time for craft and other fun things around the home... but alongside of that, there is a sense of not knowing when I get to see my mum or extended family and friends again, or wishing David has someone to play with, o...r knowing that I probably won’t be very busy with work for a while. So today I got dressed in something pretty and colourful and fun and went for a walk out in the sunshine and amongst all the black clad active wearers! And I felt fabulous! Now I wish I had taken a pic So I encourage you all- especially if you are feeling a bit to get dressed in something that makes you happy, put on that lipstick and feel great! It doesn’t matter if you are staying at home, or going to the park or doing the grocery shop (and let’s face it that’s pretty much the choices we have right now), if it makes you happy it’s worth it I have been spending my free time recently doing craft around the house... and we will all have so much free time now that we can’t really go out... but I realize a lot of you are not crafters, so I am going to come up with a list of ideas to keep you busy- even if you don’t craft!

21.01.2022 This linen wrap around dress will be included in the sale at my boutique market stand, this Sunday, 8th March, at Kirribilli Markets. I will be inside the tunnel, approximately the middle of the middle. I will be there from 8:30am until 3pm! This dress is approximately an Australian size 12, so it’s a little roomy on me around the top half (I have a narrow back). Try it on at the markets this Sunday!

20.01.2022 This is a design that is included in the PenelopeRED secret sale, but not added to Etsy. Honestly there is just too much to add! So if you would like to know more about this dress then please DM me. It’s a fun geometric A-line dress that has a bit of 60s or 70s glam about it! This dress is handmade from a cotton elastane sateen. It is best suited to an Australian size 10 or USA size 6. I am slightly too big for it so the zip at the back doesn’t sit down as well as it should. You could possibly let the seams out down the side if you needed to. It is $240 normally, but with the sale it is reduced to $168.

19.01.2022 Starting Wednesday, 18th March, some of my designs will be included in a Lust for Leaf pop up shop showcase. Think all things floral! The pop up shop is located at 7 Clovelly Road, Randwick. Opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 10:30 to 5pm, and on Saturdays it’s 10 to 3pm. My designs will be there until April 11th. Just so you know, this is a stand alone shop, and not in a shopping Centre. It will be a beautiful scene of beauty and fabulousness! I can’t wait to show you. Lots of other fabulous designers will be featured too!

18.01.2022 The PenelopeRED secret sale has ended and it feels good to have plenty of clothes hangers left to fill up with new designs! The last of the sale orders will be posted today or tomorrow. The PenelopeRED Etsy shop has changed and only a few items are ready to ship. Most are listings for custom orders. DM me if you have any questions! I also have something new happening on the 18th March, until 11th April... more news on that soon! https://www.etsy.com/shop/PenelopeRed

15.01.2022 The first lot of scrubs are done! Yay! Thanks goes to Leanne, Penny P, Maureen, Sharna and Lorelle for sponsoring the first seven sets of #sponsorscrubs scrubs! To get involved and find out more take a look at my website here: http://www.penelopered.com.au/sponsor-scrubs

13.01.2022 Its SALE time everyone! I am holding a sale on all Summer stock, from today until end of next Sunday, 8th March. You can take advantage of the sale in two ways... 1. Shop online in the PenelopeRED Etsy shop and use this code at checkout: SECRETSALEFACE. All items in my Etsy shop are on sale. Take a look at the online shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PenelopeRed... 2. Visit me at Kirribilli Markets on Sunday, 8th March. There will be much more choice and a chance for you to try the items on. 3. I will also be posting items throughout the week, on Facebook, that are not already listed on Etsy (there is seriously just too much to do to list them all on Etsy!). If you have any questions about any items I post, just let me know! A few things to remember: The 30% off discount will be applied at checkout. There are limited sizes and stock available but to make it easier, designs have been divided into size categories in the online shop. Let me know if you need help selecting a size. Just DM here! All sales are final. Summer stock only- no custom orders are included in the sale. The sale will not be advertised to the public at the market so this is only available to fans and followers of PenelopeRED!

13.01.2022 I managed to take a few quick videos of more of my latest designs! Here you can see the latest bolero, paired with a bow tie knit top. And while we are on the subject of videos... what do you think of them? For me they are a lot easier to create something like this than to create proper photos. I usually find by the time I have taken the photos, edited them, and then added them to the website, I have sold out of a lot of the designs! Or only have a few copies left. These little videos take minutes to create! So your helpful feedback is appreciated This business is always evolving!!

12.01.2022 http://www.penelopered.com.au//lust-for-leaf-pop-up-shop-c From Wednesday, 18th March, PenelopeRED designs will be included in the Lust for Leaf pop up shop collection at 7clovellyroad. Think all things botanical and floral themed! Eleven handmade and ethically created designers, including PenelopeRED, will be showcasing their floral creations and wares in this gorgeous pop up!

10.01.2022 http://www.penelopered.com.au//penelope-red-is-visiting-no While these might be uncertain times, you can count on PenelopeRED to bring you some beautiful, happy images throughout this time! This time will be used to get creative!

10.01.2022 This week I will be adding a few more sale items to my Etsy shop. I added this one today. Such a bright vintage cotton print. I am guessing it’s maybe a cotton from the 80’s? Either way when I saw it I knew it would be fabulous in something! And this style shows off the print so nicely! https://www.etsy.com/shop/PenelopeRed

08.01.2022 Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I have posted on here. I have been taking a lot of time during covid to think about my business, and what makes me happy and what I want to do moving forward... if I am honest, I haven’t enjoyed using social for a long time, but I understand it’s part of having a creative small business these days, and I must do at least something. So from now on, I invite you to follow me on Instagram at @penelopereddesigns This is where I will be posting more- I enjoy the creative culture on there a lot more, and I am sure a lot of you will feel the same! On here I will just be updating the important info from now on. Wishing you all a safe and healthy week ahead! Xx

06.01.2022 I am just about to pack everything into my garment bags, ready for the markets tomorrow! All of these designs and more will be on sale tomorrow. That’s 30% off the price on the swing tag. I hope to see you there! PenelopeRED market boutique stand at Kirribilli Markets inside the tunnel. From 8:30am until 3pm, Sunday 8th March. Sale items include everything that is on the rack. Stock only. No custom orders included in the sale. All sales are final. The sale in my Etsy shop ends tomorrow night too.

03.01.2022 Hi all, I just created the PenelopeRED secret sale event at Kirribilli Art & Design Markets . I hope to see you there! Look for me inside the tunnel. And remember, this is a secret sale... so that means there will be no sale signs up, and you will have to mention the sale to receive the discount By all means, share with your friends and family the details!

01.01.2022 My philosophy at the moment is to keep creating, keep sending out beautiful images and inspiration! This is just a phase we are all going through, and it will pass. So I am excited to show you what I have been working on over the last few weeks. I will be adding more designs to the collection, so stay tuned! I can’t wait to show them all to you! Re EVENTS: I won’t be attending any markets for a while, however, I still plan to hold my private events, as long as it’s safe for... everyone involved. My private events are held in a small venue- usually a hotel room or AirBnB- and it is a one on one session with me (and sometimes a helper). As I provide private appointments, I feel confident that this is the right thing to do in this environment. If you have any questions about making an appointment with me, please DM me. At the moment I am cancelling the Melbourne visit, only because Melbourne seems to be in lock down mode (from what I can gather), and I would have been going on a plane. I will still be going to Canberra at this stage, and I will still be holding appointments in Sydney.
