23.01.2022 Time to get your nominations in for this Sunday's round of the Club Championship. Looking like great weather so hopefully see you all there.

19.01.2022 SECKOLDS DOMINANT IN THE INAUGURAL 'COOPS' Saturday night saw the first annual 'John Cooper Speedcar Sheild' and what a great night. Firstly want to thank Travis, Paul and Grant for taking on the role of Race Control for the first time and doing a marvelous job.... The racing was hard and fast all night with David Seckold setting a new Lap Record in the Dirt Modified of 8.432 seconds. The feature event began with Josh Seckold on Pole with David on the outside of the front row. Young Josh held the lead until a mid race stoppage condensed the field, with David taking the lead on the restart and holding in for the win. Paul Cain claimed the final spot on the Podium after a tough race long battle with Vic Bentvelzen. John Cooper drove the S29 for the last time and put in a great showing, proving that he can still mix it with the younger drivers. 1st V45 David Seckold 2nd V44 Josh Seckold 3rd S43 Paul Cain I want to thank everyone for making it a great event and look forward to seeing it build in the future.

18.01.2022 Due to the ongoing COVID 19 situation we have made the hard decision to postpone the Wingless Sprint Stampede. Following the suggestions from authorities including Social Distancing, we feel that the only option to protect the health of all parties is not hold any racing/open days until further notice. We will be working with the Model Park to get things moving again as soon as it's deemed safe to do so. ... So in the meantime, with the possible down time we may all have coming, it could see all those projects that have been put aside for rainy day see some bench time. Who knows, I may even wash my cars.... Stay safe people and take care.

11.01.2022 On Saturday 8th February Penfield Quarter Scale Speedway is pleased to be hosting the inaugural John Cooper Speedcar Shield. The Speedcar class started out as standard buggies using the original plastic body, and John Cooper was one of the first few at Penfield to import one of these. The buggies were initially raced as is however, in late 2008/early 2009, after finding some photos on the internet of the same buggies with a bolt on cage the Speedcar class kicked off. John too...k one look at these photos and got to work building and, with his incredible generosity, built an entire fleet of them. He initially built an amazing 11 of them for himself and others within the Penfield club. What evolved was a very reliable, very fast, great handling race car. By the time the season began in October 2009 it wasn't uncommon to have 10 plus Speedcars turning up for a run each meeting. It was pretty exciting times during those early years. John's grandson Christopher drove the Speedcar no. 29 alongside John’s own Speedcar no. 3 regularly. One of John's proudest moments was when Christopher won 1st place in the 2014 Australian Quarter Scale Speedway Titles which were held at Penfield while driving the Cooper built no. 29 Speedcar. John was rightfully inducted into the Australian Quarter Scale Speedway Hall of Fame in 2010 for his dedication and contribution to this amazing hobby (or some say sport) of ours. The no. 29 car will turn its wheels for the last time this meeting before being retired, and will become a memento for John and his grandson of the many special times and triumphs that they shared together. The continued popularity of the Speedcar class is testament to the work and enthusiasm from people like John Cooper. Written by Grant Muller

04.01.2022 ROUND 3 COMING UP FAST Tight points battles after 2 rounds and competitive racing leads to great racing for round 3. 03.01.2022 EDIT.... INCORRECT DATE. This Saturday is the final round of the Club Championship with the Wingless Sprint Stampede to be held on Sunday the 29th. Apologies ... Pete (Papa Smurf) Henley This year we have already honoured two people, Nobby and Coop, who helped establish model speedway racing in South Australia and in fact Australia. But the list is not complete unless we include Peter (Papa Smurf) Henley. Pete has been involved in racing model stuff since before many of us were born. Among other things, he has toyed with line-controlled airplanes, racing boats, and every category of our speedway cars that are now or have been raced. Back in the 90’s, the government re-arranged the Edinburgh Park area and the old layout of Penfield Model Engineers had to be changed. Pete was a key part of the group of people who developed the club and the Speedway into what we have today. Pete has built at least one and sometimes several of the various category speedway cars that we race. He has provided a lot of help and advice to other members (whether they wanted it or not). He has raced locally and interstate quite successfully over the years and has been heard grumbling about not having any more space for trophies. For many years Pete has also been the backbone of keeping our speedway prepared with a good racing surface. His untold laps grading, meshing and rolling the track go largely unseen. And he has also played a major part in looking after equipment and making many improvements at the club, not just to the speedway but to the whole facility. It is fair to say that without Pete and people like him, we would struggle to keep our speedway running like it does.
