19.01.2022 A message to our wonderful community of little penguin rehabilitation jumper knitters... Thanks to you we now have more than enough little penguin rehabilitation jumpers to rely upon in the event of an oil spill and are asking our community to please stop knitting jumpers. Our Knits for Nature program is now closed. If you have already knitted up some jumpers, you are still welcome to post them in to us. We thank you for your generosity and understanding.... 09.01.2022 SealSpotter Challenge 2021 is almost here! Launching this Sunday 9th May. You can contribute to important Australian fur seal research from wherever you are in the world using the Phillip Island Nature Parks SealSpotter citizen science portal > https://www.penguins.org.au/sealspotter. Review a series of drone photos of the Seal Rocks colony to count seals and spot marine debris entanglements so Nature Parks scientists can better understand their population and threats.... To continue to support this work, you can adopt an Australian fur seal here! > https://penguinfoundation.org.au//adopt/australian-fur-seal.

04.01.2022 Welcome to our first night of (Almost) Live Penguin TV - Highlights Edition We’re all having to stay at home in Victoria at the moment to keep our community safe, meaning we can't access our studio to bring you the live feed of the Little Penguins. So we've organised something a bit different instead. For some of you, this will not be the first time you've witnessed the shenanigans that will take place tonight. For our new viewers welcome, sit back, relax and enjoy the w...onders of wildlife caught on camera. If you'd like to donate to help protect Little Penguins and other wildlife on Phillip Island, please head to penguinfoundation.org.au/donate. #LivePenguinTV #phillipislandnp

03.01.2022 Today is World Penguin Day! Did you know that penguins are an 'indicator species'? This means the health of penguin populations are very important in alerting us to the health of the worlds oceans. Ten of the world’s 18 species of penguin are threatened with extinction (IUCN, 2017). Much of the decline in global penguin populations is due to human-driven threats on land such as loss of breeding habitat and introduced predators, and at sea such as pollution and overfishing - ...climate change and severe weather is a significant threat to all but one of these 18 species. So, how can we celebrate and help our waddling pals out? - Grab a tea, get comfy and spend 30 minutes learning about the current status of the world's penguins > https://www.iucnredlist.org/search - Donate or adopt a little penguin through our Adopt a Penguin program to support research, conservation and rehabilitation efforts on Phillip Island! Click > http://www.penguinfoundation.org.au - Learn more about Phillip Island's penguins from Phillip Island Nature Parks here > https://www.penguins.org.au/news/latest-news/ #WorldPenguinDay
