25.01.2022 Life is, well, a little bit different at the moment. So why not try something new! Tune in tonight to MPRG TV at 6pm for a special preview of our golden anniversary exhibition MPRG: FIFTY. The preview features an exhibition walkthrough of MPRG: FIFTY with Artistic Director/Senior Curator Danny Lacy and an excerpt of the Peninsula Chamber Musicians performing Mozarts Flute Quartet in D-Major in the Gallery recorded prior to the lockdown. Unfortunately, due to the second COVID...-19 lockdown we have decided to postpone the official online launch of MPRG: FIFTY until the exhibition re-opens to the public. We hope that this little preview on Thursday brightens up your day and gives you something to look forward to. We are also excited to launch our online artist in conversation series on MPRG TV, presenting contemporary artists from the MPRG Collection including printmaker Raymond Arnold, painter Euan Macleod, drawing superstar Jess Johnson and instrument builder/artist Cameron Robbins. These will be streamed weekly on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm, beginning the 30 July. 18.01.2022 We also welcome Helen Ireland as our soloist for Mozarts Sinfonia Concertante. Originally from Adelaide, Helen has made Melbourne her home since moving in 2000 to attend the Australian National Academy of Music. Helen is also a core member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and teaches viola at Monash University. ... A graduate of the Canberra School of Music, Helen was awarded the Erica Haas prize for chamber music. She participated in several Australian Youth Orchestra tours, becoming Principal viola of the Camerata in 1998. In 1996, Helen was a finalist in the viola competition at the International Winter School for Strings. Helen has worked with many leading Australian orchestras, including the Australian Opera; Ballet Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. She plays regularly with the (MS0) Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria where she has been guest principal and Associate Principal. Helen is qualified as a Feldenkrais practitioner and looks forward to helping other musicians with this work. 08.01.2022 Introducing one of our soloists for this weekends performance Erica Kennedy - please help her feel welcome on Sunday! Over twelve years as founding first violinist with the Flinders Quartet Erica studied, performed and recorded nationally and internationally with masters including Bill Hennessy, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, David Takeno, Hatto Beyerle and the Emerson and Vermeer String Quartets. As a chamber musician she has performed in most of the major Australian festivals and ha...s enjoyed guesting with groups including the Australian String Quartet, the Tinalley String Quartet, and the Southern Cross Soloists and collaborating with the Goldner Quartet and the Melba Quartet. Erica enjoys mentoring and has tutored for Youth Music Australia, Mount Buller Chamber Music Summer School, Melbourne Youth Music, the University of Melbourne and she has given various international masterclasses. She is also a faculty member at Monash University. As both soloist and concertmaster, Erica has performed with many of Australias orchestras including the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
