25.01.2022 You've had a Coronavirus test and received the good news that its negative? This is the current advice from NSW health -> STAY in isolation for 14 days if: - you have had close contact with someone with confirmed Coronavirus OR - you arrived back to Australia in last 14 days... Even if you are negative - stay home if you can, practice social distancing, wash your hands.

22.01.2022 Symptoms of COVID19: - Runny nose - Sore throat - Cough - Fever... - Pneumonia - Difficulty breathing (severe cases) You may not get all symptoms, and you may have mild symptoms. If you are unwell at all it is imperative that you stay at home to prevent spread, even if you are only mildly unwell. Please keep unwell children at home too. Please call if you need to request a phone consultation. DUE TO TEST KIT SHORTAGES ONLY THE FOLLOWING GROUPS WILL BE SENT FOR TESTING (Peninsula Medical Centre is not a testing site): - those with acute, cold, flu-like symptoms who are: 1. returned travellers, or 2. a contact of a confirmed case If you do not fit into these categories you will not be offered a Coronavirus test. We understand that the lack of widespread testing is frustrating, we are frustrated too.

21.01.2022 We have beautiful new website! https://peninsulamedicalcentre.com.au/

13.01.2022 Due to the risks of COVID19 spread (both to our staff and amongst patients in the waiting room), we will be having fewer GPs on site, and conducting many of our consults over the phone. If you require a GP, please speak to our receptionists about whether a phone consult is appropriate. If you meet the following criteria there will be NO charge for this phone call (note that "chronic conditions" includes all chronic conditions, not just those affecting lungs). If you do not meet this criteria a non-rebatable fee of $50 will apply to be paid at time of booking. We expect and hope that as the pandemic worsens the Government will expand its funding to include all patients.

13.01.2022 We are no longer accepting any "walk in" patients via the treatment room. If you need INR test, dressings, vaccinations, are unwell, have an injury, or otherwise would usually present without an appointment please be aware that this is no longer possible or safe. Please phone to book an appointment. Thank you for understanding.

12.01.2022 We know that this has been discussed in the media at length, but here is a bit more about the spread of COVID19 (including asymptomatic spread) for those interested. Another example of asymptomatic spread that people may be familiar with is chicken pox! For more information: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//alerts/Pages/coronavirus-fa Human coronaviruses are spread from someone infected with COVID-19 virus to other close contacts with that person through contaminated droplet...s spread by coughing or sneezing, or by contact with contaminated hands, surfaces or objects. The time between when a person is exposed to the virus and when symptoms first appear is typically 5 to 6 days, although may range from 2 to 14 days. For this reason, people who might have been in contact with a confirmed case are being asked to self-isolate for 14 days (this applies whether or not they have returned a negative test themselves) Most COVID-19 cases appear to be spread from people who have symptoms. A small number of people may have been infectious before their symptoms developed.

12.01.2022 ALL PHONE CONSULTS BULK BILLED FROM MONDAY. Every patient, every doctor. No fees. Need a check up or need to check in? Physical health/mental health concerns/scripts/need to talk to your GP? Book now! Call reception on 4341 1844

11.01.2022 Update (April): all patients are now eligible for free phone consultations with their GP. Call to book. Remember to refer to this decision tree if you are unwell or are worried about having COVID19

09.01.2022 All patients must wear a mask or face covering before entering our practice from Monday onwards - masks are available from pharmacies. Our Receptionists have made calls to all patients booked early this week and will continue to advise. Thank you for your help and understanding. (Children under 12years not required)

08.01.2022 Have you been in household contact with a recently returned traveller/have one staying with you? Then consider your family in 14 day quarantine too! COVID19 can spread without symptoms (called "assymptomatic spread"). Let's stop community spread.

06.01.2022 In order to protect the public and our staff, we have implemented strict new policies regarding who enters the surgery. These procedures are effective immediately and shall be reviewed on a daily basis. Entry to the surgery shall be strictly monitored and restricted to those with appointments and need to be in the building. ... The new procedures are: nobody enters without a prior appointment walk in patients are not permitted patients must make appointments by telephone, not in person, and where possible will be offered a phone consultation DO NOT come to appointments too early as you will be made to wait outside only 1 patient per doctor shall be allowed in the waiting room at one time - chairs will be spaced apart and others made to wait outside patients who can come alone should come alone (children and elderly who need help can of course bring help) We apologise for the inconvenience however this is a very important time and we need to do all that is possible to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

05.01.2022 Important information about the Flu vaccine. The influenza vaccine is currently unavailable. The Peninsula Medical Centre has been informed that the influenza vaccine is currently out of stock for General Practices and we will not receive any more supply until June.... We will continue to post updates on the status of the availability of the Flu Vax as we get more information. We apologise for this situation as we understand the importance of the Flu Vax for patients however it is beyond our control. A new way of doing things The Flu Vax clinic will be available via appointment only. On the day of your appointment you will be required to wait OUTSIDE the practice until you are called in for your vaccination as only one patient will be allowed in at a time. These new procedures are needed to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff. We thank you for your understanding during these difficult times. We strongly recommend that all patients get the flu vaccination, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

03.01.2022 IMPORTANT - here is how you work out what to do if you are sick or think you have been exposed. Our fee for phone consults if you do not meet criteria is $50 which is similar to most GPs usual gap. We will be putting a copy of this on our door too

02.01.2022 Please call the practice on 02 4341 1844 to book an appointment. Please do not contact the practice via email or facebook to book an appointment, we do not have the ability to facilitate this currently. Thank you for your understanding.

01.01.2022 This page is now live - this page is run by the Doctors and Manager of Peninsula Medical Centre. We will attempt to give as much information as possible through this page. Please be aware that this is an extremely busy time for us and although we will try to reply to communications through here, it may not always be possible.

01.01.2022 There has been misinformation circling about COVID19. To clarify, a runny nose is a symptom of COVID19 (it is less common than cough and fever, but a runny nose occurs in COVID19 and its absence does not exclude the disease) Warm water is not superior to cold, just keep hydrated. Social distancing, hand washing and staying home unless absolutely neccessary are are best defences. If you can work from home, you should. We have never seen a virus like this in our lifetime and will likely never see it again, please stay alert but not anxious.
