This year’s AGM (Wednesday 28 October 5:30pm McEvoy Oval Clubhouse) will also see a vacancy in the Treasurer role with Sharyn Sainty leaving us after the past few years doing a fantastic job! A big thanks to Sharyn for her effort. Sharyn has been instrumental in the transition to o...ur new XERO accounting system which has made the role of Treasurer so much simpler and quicker. So thanks Sharyn for all your time and effort and for giving back to Peninsula Touch. 21.01.2022 It’s the end of an era, but the start of a new one following our AGM last night, our extremely valued and long-serving secretary Meryl Harris officially stepped down. But left us with these final comments- I thoroughly enjoyed my years as Secretary and being part of such a supportive and harmonious Committee. Being able to give back was really rewarding and I’m a bit sad to leave. When I look back at when I joined the Committee and compare that to where Peninsula Touch is... now, I feel proud about the progress we’ve made, knowing that I was a big part of that. But it’s now time for someone else to keep that going and experience how rewarding it is. What you get back from being part of the Peninsula Touch Committee will be as much, if not more than you give. Well said Meryl and thanks! 15.01.2022 Touch is back tonight! We've had many questions about whether the canteen is open. The short answer is no. But please take the time to read why... Firstly, the Committee understands as much as anyone the value of the social connection that is provided by running the canteen. We would love to open it - after the year we've all had, a quiet drink or two after a game is something many of us could do with! Unfortunately, the current Public Health Orders and additional advice by ...the Government still requires sport to use the "Get in, Play, Get Out" rule. We have discussed a range of different options that might allow us to open the canteen and create the great social atmosphere that we all enjoy. However, at the end of the day opening the canteen and the bar, would encourage members to remain at the venue longer than what is acceptable under current public health advice. We understand the frustration and disappointment, particularly when you see other sectors (e.g. hospitality) operating under different rules. We share that frustration. But we need to follow the rules in place for sport. We will continue to keep up to date with any changes that might allow us to re-open the canteen/bar and will obviously look to do that as soon as possible. Until then, we ask that you are patient and understand the circumstances under which we are operating. Rest assured the Committee and other volunteers will do their best to make sure Touch Footy is enjoyable, but also safe. "
