07.01.2022 Mornington Peninsula Shire is calling for community feedback on a proposed speed limit change along Melbourne Road. The proposal seeks to reduce the 80km/h speed limit to 70 km/h to improve road safety and achieve consistency of speed limits. Points to consider: - Crash reports reveal there has been 29 casualty crashes on this stretch of road since 2009, including 10 serious injury crashes and two fatal crashes. This has resulted in three fatalities and 13 serious injuries; -... Studies indicate that decreasing the speed by 10km/h will reduce casualty crash incidents by 15% and could lead to a reduction of 3.2 fatal or serious injury crashes over the next five years; - Local community groups including Nepean Ratepayers Association, Community 3942 and Diamond Bay Private Streets Association have strongly advocated for safer speed limits along Melbourne Road; - The difference in travel time is estimated to be no more than 40 seconds across the 6.3km length. Visit www.mornpen.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay and complete the survey by midnight Sunday 27 November.

03.01.2022 You decide the speed and the speed decides the outcome - please, rethink speed.
