25.01.2022 I haven't done a lino for almost a year... but Koala had been calling me to return to my art... With the destruction of the NSW bushfires I felt I needed to do ...something, be helpful in some way. So I'm donating $60 for each print sold to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, which allows me to adopt a koala for a year for each purchaser. My vision for Koala is to see her thriving with joey and abundance of gum leaves.

24.01.2022 Oak Hill Gallery is looking for expressions of interest for a series of Collagraph classes on a Sunday morning. This is a terrific introduction to printmaking w...hich involves a lot of fun and play. Contact the gallery for more information or ask questions in this post. All questions will be answered within 24 hours and others will be able to contribute in the discussion. A collagraph is a method of printmaking using a board with collage materials glued onto it to form a relief surface with a variety of textures. A very creative and experimental form of printmaking, collagraph prints can be made with many different materials, including cardboard, yarn, fabric, leaves, masking tape and more. The process takes time to make the plates, dry and varnish, prepare and print. Follow the link for more information, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collagraphy

22.01.2022 Haven't gone on about using 'Marmoleum' flooring lino for a while. But having just started this new one, I realised once more that all the preparation of gluein...g to backing board, sanding flat and smooth and staining the surface (with acrylic ink) does produce just about the perfect block. So smooth to carve, no crumble but with the ability to 'break and flick'. Crisp and firm to print, and of course the pale colour shows exactly what one is going to get. Oh, and it's natural and biodegradable too! See more

21.01.2022 Both of these linocut were destined for the Somers Art show. Now it is cancelled, which is unfortunate. Do you know a Pony Girl who would love a grgrous print like this in her bedroom. Please share post if you do. Thanks Billy

21.01.2022 I dont know if anyone else has done this, but when inking small, isolated areas, Ive worked out I can use thin strips of Lino either side and move them around so that the roller stays flat when inking......if that makes sense?

19.01.2022 "I had 2 fire fronts about 200m away my family had been evacuated but I stayed to battle the ember attacks. The fire had eased so I had a drink break and heard ...a plane it sounded like it was low so I went out to video it for my 2-year-old who loves planes. I saw the first plane coming but I had no idea a jumbo was about to drop the retardant. I heard the roar of the jet, it was awesome. Later the fire flared up again and burnt up to the retardant lines if it wasnt for the skillful drop outside my fence line we may of lost our home, they really did save the day." : Tony Johnson via ViralHog

17.01.2022 BOOK REVIEW. I have been reading this great book by Dianne Fogwell this week. I especially like the section she has called TIPS. I like the glossary at the back... and the sections dedicated to inks and rollers etc. I also have a whole new appreciation of the difference between a printmaker and a MASTER printmaker. Dianne has dedicated her entire life to her printmaking practice. If you actually own a Dianne Fogwell print in Australia you are incredibly lucky. Great book. Recommended to dedicated printmakers.
