24.01.2022 After a couple of orange days-State Emergency Service-where no sewing happened or was really even thought of, it is back to it today. Been slowly working on Dinner Plate Dahlia, but today most of the pieces are ready for the Queen size borders to be put up together. I was excited to see them all together, loving how it is coming together.
24.01.2022 The WIRES fund raising Koala design from Sweet Pea Designs. I made this one into a mug rug but I am not sure how I feel about putting a hot cuppa on it. This isn't a sandbag, had then on the brain on Sunday but it could well be, before the sand was placed into it. It is messy enough without sand as well.
21.01.2022 It has been a while but the machine is humming again. Uni work has kept me busy while working so sewing has taken a back step. But with 1 day of LSL a week and the world in turmoil there are a few minutes available so those will be taken by the sewing machine. :)
20.01.2022 Little bit of LSL this coming week, I decided not to go to Perth for an appointment so going have to stay home.....devastated I will have time to sew. This is one half of the last unit to be made for my Dinner Plate Dahlia. Getting close to having a quilt top....getting excited.
19.01.2022 Number 80 of 80, circles achieved.
18.01.2022 Each year Tiny Sparks puts out a call for tiny quilts to give to babies in WA hospitals in NICU on Christmas morning. Christmas 2018 I helped the ladies in Lancelin make some to send down, last year I had plans and pieces cut ready to make then but time disappeared. Organised for this year, 10 tops made, this is the first quilted ready to trim and bind.
16.01.2022 After 10 months of work on and off my Dinner Plate Dahlia top is finished.
14.01.2022 Little bit of Dinneraplate Dahlia today, coming together slowly. Would be faster if I worked on one project at a time, naahhhh that would be boring and sooo not Penny.
13.01.2022 A gift I worked on earlier in the year. I was asked to make this quilt in the same style as one I made the recipient's son. The fabrics were bought in New Zealand and some are the same as the son's.
11.01.2022 Last piece constructed. Now to joint the last few pieces to the wedges.
10.01.2022 Whoooops, did I do that.....Yep......the newest Sweet Pea Designs design....why? Because it is soooo cooolll, should I be doing other things? Yes! I did some house work this morning, it is a reward.....I will keep telling myself that.
09.01.2022 It has been a while since the Q has had a run. I have a kids quilt to finish on it, but Helen Godden is running a online workshop at present so I jumped at the opportunity to learn more from her. Sooooo I have started another new project....opppsss there hasn't been too many finishes lately. But I couldn't say no to these two projects I am currently working on. Back to Dinner Plate Dahlia soon....promise. This is Tulip-Block 1 - definitely areas for improvement but there are 8 more to practise with.
09.01.2022 An almost finish today...label to be made. This is for a local child who has had a tough time of late. Pattern - Pat Sloan's April Stay at Home Quilt Along
07.01.2022 1 Friend then might keep any others on the down low until they are altogether.
07.01.2022 This is why I had to do it. Sooo cute, now to work on her friends.
06.01.2022 Need to share some of the orange work too, a long couple of days and extremely emotional at times. I haven't been able to do too much in the last couple of years, it was good to get back into it, mud, sweat and tears.
05.01.2022 Dinner Plate Dahlia circles, getting them prepared to applique onto the unit I am working on. It is slowly coming together. But in true Penny style there are other projects being worked on at the same time, maybe photos of some of that tomorrow, unless I get a sudden urge to do housework.
03.01.2022 Last straight paper piecing seam for Dinner Plate Dahlia, closer and closer to 1 piece
03.01.2022 "Australian Animals Table Runner" from Sweet Pea Designs. I have added hanging corners and sleeves so it can be hung as there are not too many horizontal flat surfaces to display it on. Sweet Pea Designs released a koala today that can be added to this design, with ALL SALES from the design given to WIRES Wildlife Rescue ( WILDLIFE INFORMATION AND RESCUE SERVICE ) to continue their important work with all our injured and orphaned wildlife. This one was to far into the making to add the koala but I will make a mug rug koala.
03.01.2022 In a bind today......about 20 metres of binding for NICU quilts.
