22.01.2022 Lest we Forget. The children have been exploring ANZAC Day over the past week and have come to know many of the sacrifices made for our freedom. They too have now become part of history on this unique ANZAC Day of 2020.

21.01.2022 Yesterday saw Jonna commence her maternity leave. Over the past 8 months she has been sharing her journey with the children in "The Baby Project " researching what they know about babies. Children offer theories and insights to life that are thought provoking and warming. Stage 2 of this project is yet to come.

20.01.2022 Last night we attended a professional development session with the amazingly passionate Nathan Wallis, discussing The First 1000 days". We explored the development of the frontal cortex and how its development in the first 1000 days comes from interactions with connected and attuned adults. Some of the main points we took away from this were: * Intelligence is 30% Genetic and 70% the data you receive in those first 1000 days. * Caring and available relationships with fa...mily members and stable carers who are responsive helps to keep cortisol levels low. * Learning an instrument or second language will help to increase your childs frontal cortex development. Thanks to one of our mums, Anna for the recommendation and to Nundah State School for hosting Nathan on a stormy night.

05.01.2022 Coming to know materials, children need hands on real engagement. Our cement hardened from our Tuesday pour now sees the children experimenting with it in many ways.

02.01.2022 Our outdoor program has seen us "making our own cement" with many potions. Today saw a "real" cement truck deliver some cement for our project. Thank you Angelo and Romeos dad for giving life to this real learning

02.01.2022 A daily ritual of gathering in our Piazza to acknowledge the traditional land owners and to reflect on how we care for country often sparks thoughts about our small community at Penola but also the wider community. As we emerged back from our Christmas break it was hard to ignore the toll the bushfires have taken on the flora, fauna and people of Australia. The children set about raising funds and together we raised $380 which was matched by the service! A huge thank you to our wonderful families and members of the Penola community for giving so generously.
