10.01.2022 Penola Lions have sent a semi trailer load of hay to victims of the Sherwood Bushfire. Sherwood suffered 2000 stock losses and 12000 hectares of land burnt on a day of catastrophic fire danger in January this year. Sherwood is a small town just north west of Bordertown in South Australia. Koch Bros transported the hay for free and Lions thank the company for this and also driver Gary Koch for his excellent assistance in ensuring the hay got to the people in need. Pictures show Lion Graham Hinze and Gary Koch loading at Penola and at Sherwood the hay being delivered to locals Amy Baum and her Mum.

04.01.2022 Donation of new Jaws of Life equipment to the Penola CFS by the Penola Lions Club. Presentation evening on Thursday 26th April 2018 at which a certificate of thanks was presented to Lions President John Stayte. The CFS demonstrated the power of the new equipment by cutting the doors open on a small car quickly and cutting through the steering wheel to free a driver in an accident situation. Very impressive demonstration of new lighter weight cutters. The Lions donation was a response to a tragic road accident at Penola 18 months ago which claimed the lives of 4 young people as they drove to work one morning.
